chapter 27

As Brian was about to head back to their practice room, he bumped into JYP.

The CEO rose a finger as if he had remembered something. "I knew there was something I forgot to cover at our meeting this morning." He said stopping in front of the bassist. "Do any of you wanna go on masked singer? I know it's kind of last-minute but-"

Brian's face lit up. "I would love to!"

"Ask the others first-"

"NO NO NO." He said quickly. "I want to do it. Please."

"A-Alright." JYP seemed flustered. "You need to be there tomorrow. I can give you a ride."

Brian threw a fist in the air when JYP walked away. He always wanted to participate in that show and there was finally a chance for him to.

"Chaeyoung!!" Dowoon barged into Twice's practice room to find her but she wasn't there.

He bowed to the members who were and sprinted out to look for her somewhere else. He checked every place he could before returning to the practice room again.

"Do you know where Chaeyoung is?" He asked Mina who was stretching.

"Did you try calling her?"

"If I do, I'll lose this chance to talk to her because I know she'll ignore me." He said, sounding out of breath.

Jeongyeon walked up to him and pulled him out of the room to talk.

"She's really pissed. I don't know what happened between you guys but for the past week or two, she's been out of it."

"That's why I really need to talk to her right now. Help me please." Dowoon pleaded.

"She left early.. back to our apartment."

"Can I go there?"

"I can send her to a playground nearby so you'll meet her there instead??"

He nodded and waited for Jeongyeon to call Chaeyoung. When she ended the call, she looked at Dowoon.

"She definitely knows something is up but good luck."

Dowoon thanked her and ran off. He texted Sungjin he was leaving.

Sungjin got ready to head to the filming set. After getting Dowoon's text, he waited for Brian to return so he would at least see one of them before he left.

Brian walked back into their practice room and excitedly told the guys about his good news. No one really showed any excitement for him. Sungjin just left right after he walked in.

"Where's dowoon?" Wonpil asked.

"He went to Twice's practice room. Why?"

Wonpil shrugged and walked out to find Dowoon.

Brian looked at Jae who was left with him. "What's wrong?" He sat next to him. "You're still thinking about our discussion this morning?"

"I'm so thankful she can walk again but she talked about having a driving trauma... that's clearly my fault."

"And that's why she quit."

"Right. Minjoo's death was also a big factor."

"And then she asked you out but you rejected her-"

Jae shot at him with his eyes. "You're not helping me right now."

Brian grinned. "Stop thinking about the past." He gave him a pat on his back. "Just think about Jimin."

Jae rolled his eyes instead of replying.

"I have to be the first to know when you guys make it official." Brian continued.

"That's never gonna happen."

"Why not?"

Jae looked at him. "You know how there are just people who are better as friends than as couples."

Brian shook his head.

"Well, you won't understand since you're dating the girl you had a crush on first. There are some of us who just don't do that."

"So you're indirectly admitting you like Jimin?"

"If Jeongyeon was your friend before you guys started dating you'll understand what I mean."

"Are you one of those people who are scared of breaking up and becoming enemies?" Brian asked but this time he sounded serious. He actually felt that way but he never wanted to talk about it in fear of it becoming reality for him and Jeongyeon.

"That's partly the reason, and it's not even about becoming enemies," Jae responded. "It'll just get very awkward. The fact that you once did and said intimate things and all of a sudden you see each other and just walk by... that's scary."

Brian nodded.

Wonpil knocked on the door and Mina looked up. She was the only one left there. He was flustered and had thoughts of running away since coincidence wasn't doing him justice at this point.

"I'm here to get Dowoon." He said and cleared his throat.

"I'm clearly the only one here." She said and continued what she was doing.

Wonpil stared for a while before walking up to her. He was at a point in his life where he wasn't holding anything back. The last time he did that, he had many regrets.

"Look, I don't even want this-" He paused and exhaled. "I don't want what I'm feeling to have any significance so I'm just gonna be straight forward. I must be lonely because for some reason I can't stop staring at you. And I think of you a lot."

Mina was flustered by his sudden "confession." She just burst out laughing, to ease the awkward tension.

"Why're you laughing? I'm being serious." He questioned with a stern look.

"That's why it's funny."

"So what do you have to say about it?"

"What do you want me to say? You literally just told me you don't want to make a big deal about it."

"Do you feel anything for me?"

She scoffed. "You're a lot bolder than I thought."

"Because it keeps bothering me."

"Well thanks a lot for thinking of me and staring at me but we're not starting anything as you said so..."

"You're really pretty."

At this point, she just stared at him in disbelief. Why was he being so straightforward?

She felt her cheeks flush pink. "You're embarrassing me." She said while chuckling.

"If you do feel something in the future, let me know so we can be even." He turned to leave but she grabbed his arm to stop him.

"Do you think this is some kind of game??"

"No." He responded with the same stern look.

Mina started laughing again. "You're really... weird."
