Molly grants Lydia a chance to prove herself and have a permanent place amongst the people of Hilltop while Negan is given a chance by Michonne to prove that he has really changed.

The next morning...

I got out of bed quickly and ran downstairs to make Lydia some breakfast, making my own at the same time so we could eat together.

I had been down in that cell and it's lonely as shit so I knew somewhat how she would feel.

I made us plates of omelettes with fresh fruit from the field with a glass of apple juice.

I smiled to myself, hoping that she would like it and maybe warm to this place.

I knew she liked it here but sometimes I thought she just liked it because it was better than being out there, which it was.

I grabbed the plates and took them outside, smiling and saying 'hi' to people who walked past.

'Thank you for bringing everyone back safe, the girl included' an old lady named Rosemary said as she passed me.

I nodded and smiled a 'thank you'.

I just knew that in time, people would soon think of Lydia as one of us, I already did.

I saw Connie playing with Dog on the grass as Daryl just stood awkwardly and watched out of the corner of his eye as he repaired broken arrows.

He caught sight of me and raised a hand to say 'hi'.

I just smiled back and raised my eyebrows as I walked past as my eyes flicked over to Connie as I made mocking kissy faces back at Daryl.

He rolled his eyes and scoffed as he lowered his head back down in embarrassment.

I giggled all the way to the cell, feeling genuine happiness as things seemed to be looking up for us all.

As soon as I opened the cell door, Lydia's eyes lit up as she stretched and arose to take the plate.

'Thank you, but...what is this?' she said pointing to the omelette.

I paused in confusion and asked 'you've never had eggs before?'.

'Nope, we just ate boar and wild berries' she replied sadly.

I noticed that and tried to make her smile.

'Well, I think you'll like it' I said as I sat down on the floor.

Lydia did the same on the other side as we munched silently.

'Molly...' she said between bites, 'mhm' I replied as I continued to eat.

'What if my mom comes back for me again?' she asked nervously as she gulped down a mouthful of fruit.

I sighed, 'well, we'll deal with that when the time comes, but I made you a promise...if you become one of us, I can keep you safe. We will all do whatever it takes' I said seriously.

'But why?' she asked hesitantly.

'I know what it is to feel trapped and I don't ever want to make you feel that way' I replied, stopping when I realised that she was literally trapped because she was currently behind bars.

'Well...trapped emotionally' I added as she looked down sadly.

'But this isn't permanent, this cell, I wanted to ask you something actually' I said anxiously.

She put down her plate and looked up attentively.

'I want you to come live with me...in the house. I mean, you know you could have your own room and new clothes. Henry could come and stay?' I asked as I opened the cell door to let her out.
