"I did good, huh?" my mom leaned against my door frame as I twirled in my dress.
"Yeah, perfect fit," I smiled at the mirror and turned to face her. "Thank you love," she hugged me and I squeezed her. "Mom, it's your wedding. I can't believe you're getting married in two days. What the heck," I squealed and she smiled. "I love him so much," she sighed, "and we're even thinking of having a kid." "Oh?" I patted her stomach, "or are you not telling me something?"
"Well," she paused and bit her lip, rushing to the door and closing it. "Mom?" I asked, my eyes widened.
"Shh," she quieted me, "he doesn't know. I'm telling him at the reception. He's going to notice I'm not drinking anyway so I have a speech set up and I'm going to tell him." "Awe," I pouted, "Mom. I am so happy for you." "Thank you, love," she hugged me again, "I can't believe I'm doing this again almost twenty two years later."
"Hey, when you find love you find it," I shrugged as she helped me out of the dress. "Speaking of love, how are you?" she asked. "What do you mean?" "Have you dated since Darian?" she asked. "Yeah, but nothing too serious. I'm just focusing on graduating on time. I already had to take a semester off for that internship overseas."
"Yeah, well honey. Did you try to talk to him?" she brushed my hair back, "you know how you get when you're attached to someone?" "Mom," I shook my head as my phone started ringing, "we are not doing this."
"Yeah, yeah," she rolled her eyes, hanging my dress as I rushed outside.
It was Mindy and Bria. They were both able to make it to my mom's wedding and we were going out for a much needed catch up. Jessica was flying out tonight and joining us later.
"Bitch!" Mindy squealed as we rushed to each other. Face time calls and Skype could only do so much; it had been forever since we last saw each other. "Hey," I grabbed her and she twirled me around.
"Woah there," Bria laughed and she hugged me too. She was really cool; almost as much as Mindy. They were very similar.
"Where are we off too?" I asked, as we got in her car. "Any place that sells food," Bria begged as Mindy drove off. "Well there was this cool restaurant that just opened. My mom was telling me about it, it's new food and really good." "I trust her," I agreed as we drove off and I looked around.
It was a Cajun restaurant and I looked around.
"Who is the owner?" I asked and the waitress smiled at me. "David Campos," she answered as she placed our drinks down. "Is he here?" I asked, getting excited. He finally did it; he brought Louisiana up north.
"Yes, is there a problem?" she asked, worry in her eyes, "because I can fix your drinks." "Oh, no," I stopped her, "there's no problem. I know him. Can I talk to him? Tell him it's Roxie." "Ok," she smiled and rushed off.
"Roxie?" David appeared, a huge smile on his face and I stood as we briefly hugged. "How are you?" he asked, looking around, "I'm glad you're finally here to try my food." "I love your food," I reassured him and he blushed, "how have you been?"
"Good, business is doing well. Look," he leaned closer, "since you were such a big help and inspiration and so nice to my son; this is on the house. Get whatever you want," he winked. "Thanks," Bria grabbed his hands, thanking him. "No problem, it's the least I can do. Thank you for helping my son through that rough time."
"Ricky helped me as much as I helped him. Speaking of Ricky, how is he?" I asked. "He's good, he should be flying in soon, he's helping me with the restaurant. He's really good with numbers. I'll let him know you're in town."
"Thanks," I smiled.
Since he graduated last year, we kept up with each other but hadn't seen each other. Last I checked he was dating some girl named Brandy. She was really cool and a Louisiana native; they were really cute, too.
