Obito POV:

I followed Kakashi to the balcony to let him bum a cigarette off of me, plus I needed one. I was exhausted, I was tense and I wanted to hold the woman who had just curled onto my couch, she seemed upset. I was slapping myself for the urge to hold her, and the fact that I was letting the interaction between her and Kakashi get to me. I pulled my pack out and took one before handing it and the lighter to Kakashi.

"I'm worried about her." Kakashi said as he tossed my pack and lighter back to me.

"What do you mean?" I asked as we both leaned over the railing, the city not as busy being a Tuesday night.

Kakashi glanced over his shoulder to look at the woman in question, "She's pretending. She was always good at it, too."

I followed his line of sight and found she was holding the blanket off the back of the couch close to her face, burying her nose in it. I smiled softly and faced the city again, "I kind of thought she was acting strangely today."

"Is there anything else I need to know?"

"What?" I was kind of shocked about the tone Kakashi took with me.

"Ry, Danzo, the Root, the club and your relationship. Is there anything I'm forgetting?"

What has gotten into him? "Relationship? We're just friends."

"I haven't forgotten that you've slept with her. My assumption would be more than once."

"That's not relevant. She's had a run in with Madara, but aside from that, I think you know everything."

"What about Madara?" Kakashi was getting tense, his grip on the rail tightening, he flicked his cigarette out and focused on me.

"It's Madara, he's- he kissed her."

"He what?!" The silver haired man roared and stood straight.

"I can only do some much, Kakashi."

He sighed, "She shouldn't be working there."

"Her logic makes sense. Keeping herself surrounded by us and the Root, she'll stay safe."

"Or she'll become a target. I'm going to trust you to keep her safe when you're with her."

"I am." I defended as I flicked my cigarette out. "I'm doing the best I can." I faced him fully now.

"You let me know if something happens." He directed me.

"I will. What's got you so worked up?" Kakashi sighed again and ran a hand through his hair before dropping his arm down. "You're still in love with her."

"When I saw her in that restaurant- it was like I saw her for the first time all over again."

This churning feeling filled stomach and the pit that should be there, was suddenly full of jealousy. I tried to fight the defensive tone that rose in my throat as I spoke. "What do you intend to do?"

"Keep her safe and try to win her back." Like hell he would, he had his chance and he threw it and her away.

"Seems like you'll have some competition on that one." Kakashi eyed me, stern, narrow eyes focused on me. I shrugged, "Shisui is really itching for a date with her. Itachi, well, you'd probably kill him. Then there's Madara, he has his eye set on her for some reason." I knew why, but for some damned reason I wouldn't spill his little secret. Even for her.

"I don't even want to know. Keep your family away from her, and yourself. She doesn't need anymore shit in her life." He pushed off the railing and headed towards the door. "I'm serious, Obito, if Madara is up to something, you better let me know. I can't protect her if I don't know what's going on."
