Monday morning I was greeted with a text from the unknown number from before. It was yet again another picture, this time of the newspaper. It wasn't the article that caught my attention, it was the manicured thumbnail in the picture. I saved the photo and took a screenshot of the image and number to send it to Zabuza.
Since the family was still out of town, I was off work today as well, Sakura was apparently the only one in the office for the day. Then I got a text from Sakura, asking if I could stop by the office around lunchtime. It was a strange request, but I told her I'd be there and even asked if she needed anything. She said no, so I dressed to go to the office in slacks and a blouse, figuring I might as well work a bit if I'm going up there.
"Look at this text I got this morning." Kisame and I were in the penthouse together but we haven't talked all morning.
Kisame took my phone and scanned the image, "No text, just the picture?" He asked.
"Yea," I said as we got into the car, my car, that he kept driving.
"Looks like a woman's hand holding the paper." He handed me my phone back.
"I sent it to Zabuza to look at." He hummed and started driving.
"Not going to say anything about the article?" He asked after a few minutes.
"What's there to say?" I replied dryly as he cut his eyes to me before focusing on the road again.
"Just be smart." Kisame was always worrying about me, probably even more so now.
"Have I ever given you a reason to doubt that I'll do anything but that?" I smirked and looked at him.
"Multiple times." We shared a laugh before we both put on our masks that we had to wear.
Time Skip———————
"Thank goodness." Sakura seemed to sigh with relief at seeing me.
"What's wrong? I could've come in sooner, Sakura." I sat my stuff down in the chair next to her desk.
"Will you come to my appointment with me?" I was so shocked by her words I probably looked like a fish gaping at her.
"I- well- yes." I finally managed.
"Oh, thank you!" She squealed as she hugged me. "I don't want to tell my parents yet and Mikoto is still out of town. Izumi doesn't know and Rin-" she looked around the office and saw Kisame, so she leaned in, "I don't really like her."
I giggled lightly, "Your secret, okay, both secrets, are safe with me." I whispered. "What time is your appointment?"
"Not until two." It was only noon now.
"Is it at the hospital?" I asked as I picked up my bag.
"Yes, I asked your aunt to be my doctor for the pregnancy and delivery." A small pang of jealousy and guilt filled me, my own aunt didn't even see my pregnancy. Hell, she didn't even know I had a child.
"I'm going to get a few things done before we leave." She nodded happily and I made my way to my office.
"Someone's making friends." Kisame joked as he closed the door.
"Haha." I stuck my tongue out at him making him chuckle.
We both sat down and I began looking through emails and tasks that I had for the month ahead. Nothing too big was coming up aside from the medical trial Neji, Itachi, and I was all overlooking with Orochimaru. Everything seemed to be on track for the trial to start on time, and Madara was pleased as well. Now if only I could...
