Surviving

"Babydoll, what happened to your shoulder?" Kakashi's voice was hoarse with sleep.

My back was facing him as I sat on the edge of his bed, holding my arm close to my body. I was still naked, so he could see my shoulder clearly, bruised I'm assuming.

"I fell."

"That doesn't sound like an abused girlfriend line." Kakashi mumbled as the bed shifted, him moving behind me.

I hissed as he tried to lift my arm. "I did. I fell into the wall when Obito punched Shisui, Shisui fell into me."

"Fucking idiot." Kakashi moved off the bed quickly.

"What are you doing?" I glanced over my shoulder to see Kakashi dressing.

"Calling the asshole."

"I'm fine. I have some pain killers and ointment to put on it." I stood up and moved to gather my clothes from the living room.

"Oh no, you're calling in." Kakashi pushed me to sit down again.

"I have a meeting with Madara at nine. I'll be fine. Just grab my clothes and purse if you insist on babying me."

Kakashi didn't argue and went to the living room, coming back with all my stuff. I put my panties and shorts on first, and found I couldn't put my bra on. Kakashi gave in and helped with my bra and shirt. He stood before me, and I could see him trying to not say what he was thinking.

"Why did he hit Shisui?"

"He thought I slept with him. Or so I'm assuming that's why he hit him."

He arched a brow, "So he punched his cousin."

"I don't know, okay? I didn't wait around to talk, I wanted out of there. Shisui was upset, Obito looked so- I don't know. And Rin, well she needs to go back where she came from."

"What?"

"She went crazy." I could see the disbelief on his face. "She called me a whore, Kakashi."

"She what?" He was shocked.

"I didn't stutter." I glanced at the clock. "You're going to be late. I'm ready, let's go."

"Promise me you'll go see Tsunade."

I looked up in his eyes and saw the concern and worry, "I'll call her on my way to work."

"Thank you." He hugged me, as tightly as he could before pulling away and kissing me. "And thank you for staying." He smiled sweetly, that same smile I fell in love with.

"Thank you for being there when I needed you."

"I'll always be here babydoll. I- you're important to me." I love you. He almost said it.

All I could do was smile. "Come on." I grabbed his hand and squeezed it as I pulled him to the front door.

Another quick kiss and he was off to work. This felt like I was playing house. I shook my head and got in my own car, careful with my shoulder. I made it to the penthouse and headed to my bathroom, slowly stripping. My arm looked like shit, no wonder it hurt. I took some pain pills and tossed them in my bag before jumping in the shower. I applied some balm to my shoulder, hoping to ease the pain that way too. I wore a green dress, finding it easier to get in than a blouse. Lazy makeup and hair down, I was ready.

True to my word, I called Tsunade on my way to work, after I ignored a few texts and calls I had received yesterday.

"I'm surprised to see you calling me."
