"Are you sure you can't come?" Naruto was upset and his sister couldn't make it any better.
She sighed as she looked in the mirror, "I don't really think Madara and I coming to the Hyuga mansion would be a good idea." The red dress was smooth like cashmere and it felt like velvet against her skin.
The diamonds at her neck, wrist, and ears glistened in the light as she stood to examine herself, she hated herself. Her h/c hair had grown longer she noticed and the ringlets draped down her fabric free back. The sleeves were off the shoulder and tight down her arms as they stopped mid-forearm. Of course, the high slit on her left leg stopped just below being too high. Her heels matched perfectly and fit like a glove.
She was in her own chamber, Madara sending her to get ready with her attendants. Now she was finished and glaring at her reflection. She was beautiful but again, she hated it. She hated herself. She hated all of this. She wanted to run away and never look back. It was Christmas and all she could think about was how much she hated everything.
She heard Naruto sigh as well and she wanted to cry, "Will I see you Sunday?" He asked eagerly.
She smiled, "Of course," she tucked some hair behind her ear, "I'll see you at the party." The Hyuga's has decided to throw an engagement party on New Year's Eve for Naruto and Hinata.
"Then I forgive you," Y/n could hear his cheesy grin and she smiled too. "I'll see you next week. Love you, sis."
"Love you, Naru," she hung up the phone and took another look in the mirror. She had a dreadful feeling about tonight.
A knock came on her main door and she glides across the plush rug and then her heels click on the hardwood floor. She opened the door and found Madara's stoic face soften as he saw her smiling at him. She was resigned to her fate at the moment, so she'd play the doting and loving girlfriend until the end. Many would hate her. Many would question her, her sanity, and her actions, but she needed to see this through until the end. And she would.
"You look beautiful, my love," Madara held out his hand and she placed her much smaller one into his.
She smiled as she placed a hand on his chest and gazed up at him, "Handsome as always."
He smirked before kissing her lightly, "Come," he stepped away, "they're waiting."
This was a family-only affair and she still felt nervous. Rin and Izumi would be the only other people attending that weren't family, not that them being there made it any better. Madara has been awfully quiet over the last few days and even kept his distance. Izuna was out of pocket, though she hasn't actually seen him since the billiard room. The nephews she's seen in passing but nothing more.
A formal dinner with the family was to take place first then would be the gift exchange. Y/n was growing anxious with every step she took. She'd be sat between Madara and Obito tonight and she was dreading it. A table full of Uchihas, what could go wrong? Liars. Cheaters. Backstabbers. Murders. Addicts, of some kind. Abusers. She fit right in, didn't she?
Madara greeted Koshi with a nod and he opened the door for them to enter. Everyone was already seated, the first course sitting before them. Madara pulled the chair out for Y/n and she smiled sweetly at him as she sat down. Once Madara was seated they were directed to say a small prayer that Obito was asked to lead.
Once he finished, Y/n spoke, "I apologize that we were late, Naruto called to wish me a Merry Christmas." She explained their slight delay, though Madara was in fact late in his arrival to fetch her.
Words of understanding were heard but Y/n could hear the reply of distaste that was given from Rin, "Doubtful. More like you were on your knees."
Y/n didn't even chance a look as she began to eat with the rest of the table, "Even if that was the case, try to not be too jealous." It was unnecessary, but she kind of felt like being catty tonight.
