It's been two weeks since the wedding and I was finally able to go to Kiri. Kisame and I had driven to Kiri so I could see Kikyo. It was a fun drive with the man and we felt relaxed and at ease. Little did I know that someone was following us. And little did I know how life-altering this day would be. For all of us.

It was a crisp autumn day and the breeze from the ocean made me shiver as I exited the car. Kisame was going to run some errands in Kiri for Pein and Madara while I spent a few hours with Kikyo and Zabuza. I missed living in Kiri but my home would always be Konoha.

I glanced over my shoulder as I knocked on Zabuza's door and noticed a dark-colored Corvette fly down the street. It was a nice car and I could appreciate the way the driver handled it. My eyes lingered on the car as it turned and my stare remained at the end of the street before I heard the door opened.

"Babe," Zabuza eyed me curiously, "you okay?"

I glanced at the end of the street again, "Yea," I looked back to Zabuza, "just... a strange feeling."

"Were you followed?" Zabuza looked up and down the street from his place in the doorway.

"No, it's fine, Zabu," I smiled and gave him a playful push to get him inside.

"Kikyo!" Zabuza shouted as soon as we entered the living room.

"Yes, dad- mommy!" She screamed as she ran into me.

"Hey, baby girl," I moved her back a little just so I could crouch down and hold her. "I've missed you," I whispered.

"I missed you, mommy," she sniffled.

"Enough crying," I wiped her face and she grinned at me, "I have a few hours I get to spend with you, okay?" She nodded happily, "what do you want to do?"

"Can we watch a movie?!" I wasn't sure if it was a question or an explanation with a lot of emphases.

"Sure, sweetie," I smiled and we all piled on the couch.

The thing I loved about Zabuza was we could do this and there was never any arguing. I had plenty of friends from broken or split homes and I saw the turmoil it could cause the parents and the children. We never kissed in front of Kikyo, making sure she understood that mommy and daddy weren't together. I never wanted to give her a false sense of security by 'playing house' and Zabuza agreed.

After the movie was over it was time for Kikyo to do her homework so Zabuza and I had about thirty minutes to catch up. Zabuza grabbed two beers and we headed outside to the small deck he had. I leaned on the railing like I do at home but the view here was quite different. The ocean was just beyond the horizon and I could smell the salty water. Zabuza stood close by and mirrored my stance before taking a long drink of his beer.

"Are things going okay?" Zabuza asked finally.

"They've been better," I replied lowly. "Izuna slipped me ecstasy and then left me all worked up."

"Kisame told me about that one," Zabuza sounded less than happy about it.

"Madara's become more possessive and I'm living in the penthouse and mansion with him. I have access to everything and anything. I have the drug trial information, but I'm waiting for the final report before I send it to you." I explained carefully, making sure I wasn't skipping anything.

"You really think they're using the trial to test how addictive it is?" Zabuza was surprised by my suspicion.

"Yes, it makes sense based on the candidates," they were all arrested for either possession or driving under the influence.
