Naruto balled his eyes out like the night they learned of the plane crash killing their parents. She held him as he placed his head in her lap, him whispering about how he couldn't lose her too. She brushed her fingers through his hair, just how a sister would console her brother, and she calmly shushed him.
"Why are you doing this?" He asked in a soft voice as he sat up, "Why are you with him?"
She couldn't remember the last time Naruto sounded so disappointed, then she recalled the last time: Ry. When Naruto had found out about Ry and him beating her up, that's when he was disappointed with her. She hated feeling like this, and she wished she could lay it all out on the line, but she had to see this through until the end.
She opened her mouth but closed it when she saw him go to speak again, "Before you feed me whatever lie you're about to say," she was shocked, "I drove Obito to the hospital when we heard you had been shot. He- he told me something, a few things, actually, and I want to understand what's going on here, so please, tell me."
She had never been so thankful to see Izuna in her entire life. The man didn't even knock, just barged into the room unannounced, two men behind him, and Zabuza as well. Relief filled Zabuza's face, while Izuna glared at her as everyone filled the room.
"I'm sorry, miss," a face she knew, but name she couldn't remember smiling. He was young, dark hair pulled back into a ponytail, and a soft voice. Haku. The name came to mind. "We just need a few minutes, if you don't mind."
"Of course not," Y/n returned the smile and Naruto stood up to look over the growing crowd.
"If you'll step outside, please," the man she didn't know spoke now, "you've been told you're not to be involved in this investigation." Y/n knew immediately that this man was is Izuna's pocket.
Naruto narrowed his eyes but said nothing as he left, Zabuza and Izuna following him out. The door clicked and the KPD officer moved to the opposite side of the bed to sit in the open chair and Haku walked closer to Y/n and extended his hand, "Haku," he smiled again as she shook his hand, "we haven't officially met."
She smiled back, "It's nice to finally meet you," she clasped her hands in her lap and fiddled with her blanket, "I'm not sure I'll be much help though." She cast her eyes downward.
"Detective Mori," he was blonde, hair styled as if he was from a magazine, eyes a crystal blue and cocky ass smile on his lips, "Jace Mori. This is a joint investigation with the FBI, due to the nature of the crime, and the tie to the Kiri mob. We just need your statement to confirm what Madara and Obito Uchiha said."
Y/n looked at Jace with a bored expression before turning to look at Haku, "Is Obito okay?"
Haku tried to hide the smirk by coughing lightly, "He's fine, ma'am, just a bump on the head."
She sighed with relief, she had been sitting on that question all morning. Jirayia had left a little before lunch and Naruto was allowed in with her food at noon on the dot. It was now two and she wasn't sure where anyone was, nor who would be allowed in next.
"Y/n," Jace slid forward and she couldn't suppress the look of disdain on her face as she looked at him, "what exactly happened in that room?"
She looked down at her hands and her brow furrowed as if she was deep in thought. She shook her head, feigning as though she was dispersing the cobwebs from her memory. "Ry showed up," she began, "he knocked out Obito and began to touch me. Madara shot him, and I picked up Ry's gun, worried someone else was with him."
Her pause made Haku tilt his head, "Then what?"
Y/n could feel Jace's eyes on her, willing her to say what they wanted her to say, "I saw Danzo slip into the room and I shot him," she lifted her head and stared directly into Haku's eyes, "but not before he got a shot off." Haku cut his eyes to Jace and Y/n turned her head to see the blonde relax slightly.
"That matches up with Madara's statement," Jace said, "is there anything else?" He asked as he stood. When she shook her head, he said, "If you think of anything," he extended a card to her, "call me."
She scoffed, "I think I'll call my brother before I call you." The card bent from his grip as she added, "Or anyone else at the precinct for that matter. I'm going to assume your captain is somewhere in this hospital," she watched his expression fall, "he's here to see me, prick, we were engaged before. I see Izuna let you walk in here blind as a bat," she waved her hand, "maybe you should read up on your witnesses before you interview them."
The fuming detective stormed out of the room and Haku couldn't hold back his chuckle as the door slammed closed. Y/n felt some sense of relief at tearing into the schmuck, taking out some of her frustration on someone. Haku composed himself and reached for his own business card, Y/n accepting his with a smile.
"If you do think of anything," he smiled, "let me know." She nodded, "Is there anything that Ry or Danzo said?" She shook her head this time, "Any extra information you can give me?"
Y/n mulled over the events of the day, even the days prior, thinking of anything that seemed out of the ordinary. "I just can't figure out how they got into the venue. Madara had his security team in place. A guest list in place and all exits covered- it had to be an inside job, but that doesn't make any sense either."
Haku knew what she was trying to say, someone at that wedding had let those two in. For Ry and Danzo to be the ones to go, to attempt a hit like that, it was planned and it was planned well. What had gone wrong? Where was the mistake? Who was the original target?
"Thank you, ma'am," Haku nodded and walked to the door, a look over his shoulder, "Kikyo says hi."
That was yesterday. No one else came to visit yesterday though, Tsunade saying Y/n had been too stressed from the interrogation to have any more visitors. Shizune and Tsunade were the only ones allowed into her room for the rest of the day. Now, the sun rising over the horizon, Y/n stood watching the oranges spread into pinks and purples.
She wondered who it would be when the door opened. She wondered before that who would be the first to visit. Zabuza's brief moment in the room was enough for her to want to breakdown, but she held it together. Who would witness her break? Who would make her break? Who would hold her as she admitted she was scared? Who would build her back up? Who would support her in her time of need? Who?
The door clicked, and the sound of the lock being turned made her worry slightly. Soft, sure footsteps filled her ears now. Warm hands slid up her cotton-covered arms and then her back was pulled against a warm, broad chest. Arms wrapped tightly around her shoulders as a nose was buried into the crook of her neck. Tears soaked her robe and gown as she settled her hands on the forearm after the man held her tightly.
"Do you believe me now?" She whispered a low grunt of a question slipped from him, "Do you believe that I would die for you?"
He lifted his head and she turned her head to look back to him. Her eyes dipped to his lips and she moved slowly as she looked back up to his eyes, "But why?" His voice shook.
Their lips brushed one another's, "Because I love you." She kissed the dark-haired male.
Y/n Uzumaki had officially ensnared Madara Uchiha. There was no denying that she could do as she pleased as long as the man thought he had her. He held her tightly as they stood in the hospital room, Madara whispering sweet nothings in her ear. Promises and vows. She soothed his aching heart, her own promises and vows leaving her lips. As she formulated her plan, her way out, and her escape, she knew what she had to say.
Y/n pulled away to look up at the man, a look of longing and love as she held those dark eyes of his, "Let's get married."
