"Really?.. Is that true?.. Okay... I'll be there immediately." Then I turned off my phone.

"I'm sorry gentlemen but I think we're done here." We're having a conference meeting today and we're only halfway through it but they already found her. I must waste no time.

I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know what to feel actually. I just know that I need her to do something for me.

'Bahay Kalinga' ang nakasulat sa taas ng gate. It's an orphanage in La Union.

If I'm being honest, I am nervous. The woman I missed and longed for is just few meters away from me.

Lumabas ako sa kotse at naglakad papasok sa ampunan. Curiousity shows in the children's faces when they saw me. Naglalaro sila.

A woman came out to the orphanage's door. When she saw me, she whispered to the children and they ran in.

"Magandang hapon. Ano ho ang kailangan nila?" She cheerfully said.

"I'm looking for Tess Santos."

The woman examined me for a while. I saw her startled when she realized something. When she realized who she's talking to. "Kilala kita iho, ikaw ba yung nasa TV? Ano ngang pangalan mo?.. Lu... Luis?"

"Luke po. Luke Beaun." Pagtatama ko.

"Ay ikaw nga! Grabe ikaw ang laman ng balita ngayon. Puro mukha mo ang nakikita ko sa TV. Ano ngang kailangan mo? Ay oo tama, si Tess ba kamo? Halika pumasok ka."

I followed her into the orphanage. When she opened the door the long hallway greeted us.

"Marami namang ampunan doon sa Maynila kaya hindi ko inasahan na dito ka sa amin magdo-donate. Si Tess talaga ang nag-aasikaso ng mga donasyon. Saan mo nga pala siya nakilala?" Sabi niya habang naglalakad.

That's not my intent actually. But I just rode with it. "Ah, colleague."

She stopped in front of a wooden door. The woman did not bother to knock, she just opened it.

And then there, I see her.

Nakatayo siya habang nagpapasok ng damit. Sinabihan ko ang babae na iwan na niya kami.

"Tess Santos." I utter. She looked where the voice came from. I saw her face weighing thousands of emotion.

"Anak." Is the first thing she utter after she left me with dad. I'm not angry at her but I'm not happy to see her either.

Tess hugged me. Then she caressed my cheek and kissed it. "Sorry. S-sorry at iniwan kita." She cried.

It was underwhelming. Akala ko iiyak ako sa tuwa kung mararamdaman ko ulit ang hawak niya. But I was wrong. It felt normal.
