seventy-two

hyejin was walking home alone because jeongin and minhee got themselves a detention for fighting with some kid who trash-talked hyejin. the two told her not to wait for them.

hyejin sighed.

'those idiots'

she continued to walk down the hallway with her head hung low, avoiding the looks that were thrown at her. she felt small. she felt weak. especially with no one beside her.

little did she knew, a boy was trailing behind, far enough for her to not notice. the boy eyed her worriedly.

"jongho, what are you doing..?" a voice startled the boy.

thank goodness hyejin didn't notice. the boy snapped his head at the newcomer. three familiar figures were eyeing him weirdly.

"san hyung! don't surprise me like that!" the younger pouted. san giggled. wooyoung glanced at the person jongho was following and saw hyejin, putting away some books into her locker.

he smirked.

"following hyejin huh?" wooyoung teased. the other two immediately glanced her way and snickered. jongho on the other hand was slowly turning red.

"n-no i wasn't" the maknae said, flustered.

"right. keep lying" san chirped teasingly.

with a mischievous smile, wooyoung skipped his way towards the girl, much to jongho's horror. yeosang and san followed wooyoung, leaving a panicked jongho behind.

"hyung, no-"

"hi hyejinnnnn" wooyoung beamed. he stopped right beside hyejin, earning the girl's attention.

"oh hi sunbaenim" she weakly smiled. wooyoung tilted his head at her expression.

"why the long face?" san asked, leaning against the locker beside hers. hyejin smiled shepishly.

"my friends couldn't walk home together with me. nothing big" she replied.

she noticed another boy approaching them. hyejin unknowingly squinted her eyes. he was strangely familiar.

san noticed her look and quickly pulled his friend to his side. "this is our friend, yeosang!"

hyejin's eyes widened at that. yeosang narrowed his eyes at her. wooyoung sensed the slight tension. "what's wrong? you know yeosang?"

hyejin blinked. she hesitated before blurted out. "as in.. emma watson yeosang? kang yeosang?"

san blinked. then, the two boys suddenly bursted into laughter. san struggled before speaking. "yup. that's yeosang alright"

yeosang huffed as his friends continued to laughed their asses out. hyejin stood there, not knowing what to do.

yeosang then noticed a missing someone. he glanced to his back but saw no one. he frowned. "wait where's jongho?"

hyejin paused. the laughter finally died down. the two boys then glanced around.

"nah jongho's just being a pussy, let him be. i'm gonna boast at him later and make him jealous" wooyoung said, earning a giggle from san.

the three boys then turned to hyejin. wooyoung slung his arm around the girl's shoulder, ignoring her confused look before guiding her out of the hallway.

"come on. let's walk home together!" the boy exclaimed. san and yeosang followed suit, each walking beside hyejin and wooyoung. the boys completely oblivious to the looks from the students around.

jongho stepped out from behind the lockers with a pout. he stared at hyejin and his friends' back before heaving out a defeated sigh.
