school had ended for the day. some students stayed back to do some revision but mostly had already got home. hyejin was wandering around the school.
hyunjin agreed to walk home with her but a teacher needed to see hyunjin to discuss some matters and it didn't seem like she'd let him go anytime soon. minhee and jeongin already went home.
hyejin let her feet took her anywhere. soon, she found herself stopping in front of an opened music room. nobody was inside.
she stepped in and glanced around the room in awe. her gaze then landed on a piano at the back of the room.
she blinked.
she missed playing the instrument and truthfully, her fingers had been itching to touch those keys. she hesitantly made her way towards the piano.
she shut her eyes closed and gritted her teeth. her eyes fluttered back open. she sighed.
"agh fuck it"
soon, she found herself sitting down, playing the familiar chords as her fingers danced along the keys gracefully. she unconsciously smiled. a genuine one.
she was content.
it's been a while since she last felt this tinge of happiness inside her.
as she finished the melody, a tear slipped down her cheeks, followed by another. then, another. she found herself silently crying.
the guilt.
'dad, yeji.. it's my fault'
the girl continued her silent cry all the while struggling to wipe her tears away.
out of nowhere, a handkerchief was held out in front of her. she paused before slowly lifting her gaze towards the owner.
'jongho'
the boy stood before her. a comforting smile on his lips. his eyes softened seeing the girl's state.
hyejin blinked. a hiccup slipped out of her lips. she grabbed the handkerchief and instantly looked down in embarrassment. she wiped her face quite aggressively as she scold herself for looking so miserable in front of him.
jongho sat beside her on the remaining space of the seat. ignoring the fact that he's literally uninvited.
hyejin slightly flinched when their shoulders touched. the girl took her time to compose herself.
meanwhile, outside the music room, a han jisung stopped in his track when he saw the two inside the room. he quickly hid himself behind the front door before hastily pulling out his phone.
when jongho was sure she'd calmed down, he gave her a smile. the widest she had ever seen. his eyes disappeared into crescents and his smile showed off his perfectly aligned teeth.
'ethereal' she thought. her eyes were lost in his strong yet soft gaze.
"you're good" he spoke up.
hyejin snapped out of her trance. the girl looked at him questioningly.
"the piano"
"ah" she blinked. "thank you.."
jongho's fingers slowly pushed a set of keys. then he stopped, glancing at her expectantly.
she pursed her lips before mumbling. "pachelbel"
