"i swear to god.. where are the hwangs??" jisung asked impatiently. they all agreed to hang out together. they all, being jisung, seungmin, felix, jongho, hyunjin, hyejin, minhee and jeongin.

they call themselves 'the cool kids'. although wooyoung did say it was supposed to be 'school kids'.

they were already at the cafe they promised to meet up at but the siblings were late. although it was only 8.30 am.

another cup of coffee was placed onto their table. "seungmin, this is your 4th cup. you good bro?" the tall waiter asked, not really caring to be very honest.

"i'm not good, mingi hyung. if it weren't for a certain squirrel screaming at my house early in the morning, i wouldn't have needed this much caffeine" the poor boy deadpanned.

jisung glanced at him, unamused before turning to a rather annoyed mingi. "hyung, i want your finest cake please!"

"coming right up, your majesty" mingi rolled his eyes before making his way towards the cake section. jongho chuckled at the elder's response.

soon, the bell dinged and in came a panicked hyunjin and a sheepish hyejin.

"sorry, guys. hyunjin got us late"

felix shook his head. "not surprised"

jongho pat the seat beside him and hyejin gladly took it. she gave him a peck on his cheek before stealing his muffin. jongho pouted. "hey!"

hyejin stuck her tongue out playfully at him as she devoured the muffin all alone. jongho smiled. he lightly ruffled her hair. jeongin, who was sitting across them fake gagged at the affection displayed.

"this is too much for my solo ass" minhee whined. the poor girl was sitting between jeongin and hyunjin.

jeongin looked at her boredly. "you wouldn't be solo right now if you weren't too busy to be a coward too"

minhee shot him a glare. she lifted her fork, attempting to threaten jeongin with it, but was snatched away from hyunjin.

"don't blame jeongin for your cowardness" hyunjin casually said. minhee sulked at his words. jeongin looked at both hyunjin and minhee in concern.

seungmin, who was drowning in his caffeine, quietly observed the scene. after a moment, he finally nodded his head, understanding the situation.

'one has feelings for the other' the boy concluded. he sipped on his coffee, silently staring at minhee and hyunjin, then jeongin. 'and jeongin knows'

"say hyunjin. what about you and your crush?" felix spoke up. hyunjin's lips formed a straight line at his words.

"i am not a coward like minhee, hyejin and jongho. i just think it's a waste of time so i moved on" hyunjin said.

minhee frowned, sitting up straight, glaring at the boy beside her.

"i am not a coward" she firmly said. hyunjin didn't want to lose. "yes you are"

"i am not"

"then go confess to your boy, coward" he smirked.

"i like you"

he froze. he stared at her, unblinking.

"oh no" jeongin mumbled, slightly panicking. everyone around them was watching the scene intently.

"i.. uh-" hyunjin hesitated.

minhee sighed. "see? what's the point? it's a waste of time anyway, right? and you still have jisu in mind so forget i ever said that"

with that, the girl stood up and excused herself to go to the restroom. jeongin abruptly stood up and followed behind her, leaving the table in complete silence.

"and i oop" jisung quietly said. mingi returned with his ordered cake and the younger gladly took it, blowing a kiss towards the waiter.

"fuck off, jisung" mingi grumbled before leaving their table.

hyunjin was still frozen in his place. he totally did not expect that.

hyejin tsk-ed. "who's the coward now?"
