the door slammed close. hyunjin groaned in fustration. hyejin's eyes widened."hyunjin, stay here" the girl hurriedly said before sprinting out of the room, ignoring hyunjin's call.
from afar, she could see yeji climbing up the emergency stairs. hyejin immediately chased her.
"where is she going??" the girl asked herself, trying her best to speed up along the stairs.
then, it finally clicked in her mind. hyejin's eyes widened in horror.
'the rooftop'
hyejin quickened her pace, skipping two stairs at a time, wanting to reach to her sister as soon as possible.
"unnie, please don't do anything stupid" she mumbled to herself. as soon as she reached the rooftop, she spotted yeji right away.
"no.." she mumbled.
a few meters from her, there stood yeji, at the edge of the rooftop, leaning down with her hands resting on her knees. she was crying. tears pricking at hyejin's eyes. the girl carefully neared her sister.
yeji looked beneath her. the streets weren't as busy. people walking in and out of the hospital. some happy their loved ones recovered, some sad receiving bad news. but it seemed like everyone continue their life normally.
the pianist choked on her tears.
"right. everyone will continue their life even when i'm gone. maybe they'll even live better" she chuckled humorlessly, tears never seem to stop trickling down her cheeks.
a loud sob was heard. she turned around. hyejin stood there, crying.
"unnie please.. get down from there" the younger plead. "i'm sorry. i won't touch the piano ever again, i promise. just please" she sobbed.
"please don't do it"
she ignored the younger's pleading.
"i was wrong. it wasn't your fault" yeji stood up. eyes staring straight at the sidewalk beneath her.
"unnie, please. don't do this" hyejin plead. she was crying hard.
"no. i need to see dad. i miss him"
slowly, the elder took a few more steps towards the edge of the high rooftop.
"unnie.." hyejin stood there, begging again and again.
placing her right foot in the air, she looked back at her little sister who was a crying mess.
"i'm sorry, hyejinnie.." at that, she lifted her other feet and before they knew it, she was falling. off of the tall building.
"yeji, no!!"
hyejin ran.
she had never ran that fast in her entire life.
she ran with the fastest speed she could. hyejin tried to grab her hands but was too late.
she looked down at the ground beneath her in horror.
from afar, she could see a pool of blood surrounding the lifeless body of someone she loved so dearly. someone she looked up to ever since she was a little child.
hyejin screamed her lungs out. the girl cried in agony as grief embraced her in the cold dark night.
