it was break time. jongho was stood in line with hands inside his pockets. a figure approached him causing him to look to his side.

it was jisu. she made her way and stood behind him, just slightly beside him. she nibbled her underlip nervously before glancing at the boy.

"hey. i'm really sorry.."

jongho's lips lifted into a slight smile.

"it's fine. i really hope you understand that i mean it. i can't ever look at you that way, jisu"

the girl nodded. they both looked at each other for a second before bursting into giggles, nudging at each other. just how they always were.

meanwhile, the three best friends walked into the cafeteria but hyejin suddenly stopped in her track. jeongin and minhee looked at her questioningly before following her gaze.

hyejin blinked at the sight of the laughing duo in front of her.

"i thought he wants to eat with you..?" minhee frowned, arms crossed.

hyejin remained silent as she tore her gaze away from the two.

"uhm, guys. my stomach's feeling weird. i'm gonna head to the toilet. go on without me" the girl quickly said before rushing out of the cafeteria leaving the pair confused.

"yo is she okay?" minhee asked, worry laced in her tone. jeongin gave her an unsure look.

"i don't know, min. i don't know"

he'd been sitting there for ten minutes with his phone in hand, his food still untouched.

"where is she.." he mumbled quietly as he looked around the cafeteria.

'maybe she changed her mind?'

he pouted.

'nah maybe she's held by the teacher to help on some stuff'

he slightly nodded to himself. after spacing out, he let out a groan.

'damn, jongho. just eat your food. if she stood you up, it's not a big deal. it's not even a date it's just a break time at mf school'

he sighed before decided to just dig in on his food. he felt a tap on the table and immediately looked up expectantly.

his face turned dull when he saw yang jeongin instead of hwang hyejin.

the younger smiled sheepishly.

"hyung, hyejin had a bad tummy earlier so she couldn't make it. sorry.."

jongho blinked at his words. he gave him an assuring smile. "it's alright, jeongin. thanks for telling me"

jeongin grinned and gave him a nod before dashing off to where minhee was waiting.

jongho sighed before lazily eating his food.

"guess it's never gonna work out.."
