"man, felix literally stole the spotlight that night" jisung said amusingly.

the boys giggled at that while felix rolled his eyes. "nonsense. 3racha were the ones that had the whole school crazy"

the boys continued their chatter. jongho tried to focus but failed to do so. it's impossible when you have a cold hyunjin sending you glares from time to time. their loud chatters were soon interrupted by bomin.

"felix, jisung. mr. kim wants to see you both"

jisung's eyes widened. "i didn't do anything!"

bomin looked at him unamused. "sure you didn't"

"he's calling us for our career path counselling or something like that" seungmin chirped in from his seat.

jisung's lips formed an 'o' before shooting bomin an accusing look. "why didn't you say so?!"

bomin shrugged nonchalantly before going back to his seat. jisung huffed before lazily leaving his friends, felix following suit.

now jongho was left alone with hyunjin. the air became intense.

jongho cleared his throat. "hyunjin, i'm really sor-"

"save it. i'm not the one who needs explanation" hyunjin cut off. he looked at jongho in a bored manner. "you gotta deal with your own problem, man"

jongho slowly nodded at his words. he faced the front and spaced out. he knew he screwed up, but he surely need to fix it before it becomes worse.

-

the bell rang, indicating it was the end of school for the day. hyejin surprisingly managed to go through the whole day without getting affected by what had happened.

'such a big improvement, hyejin. well done' she praised herself.

the three friends hurriedly packed their stuff. they agreed to go to the new ice cream parlor that opened recently together after school. jeongin suggested it because he was worried for hyejin.

the two friends eventually found out from hyunjin about the whole jisu and jongho incident but decided to not talk much about it.

they were already grateful enough seeing hyejin successfully coped with it without harming herself. still, hyunjin had told them to look over the girl for him.

"let's go to the ice cream!!" minhee exclaimed. the three of them walked out of class but was stopped when they saw a filiar figure standing outside their class as if waiting for someone.

jongho looked up and met eyes with hyejin. he sent her a soft smile, which hyejin didn't bother to return one.

the air became awkward for a whole minute. minhee cleared her throat before tugging at jeongin's sleeve.

"hyejin. we'll wait by the gates, alright?" with that, jeongin and minhee left the pair alone in the empty corridor.

hyejin's grip on her strap tightened. her gaze was fixated to the floor.

jongho nervously fiddled with his hands. after a moment, he finally gained the courage to speak up.

"hyejin. i'm really sorry for what you had witnessed. there's nothing going on between me and jisu, i swear" he explained.

hyejin finally looked up at him before giving him a genuine smile.

"you don't need to explain to me, though. it's not like i'm your girlfriend or anything. i'm good" she softly replied. jongho blinked in confusion.

"but-"

"it's okay, sunbae. it's already embarrassing enough for you to know about me. i don't want to meddle with your privacy"

jongho frowned. 'she's too kind for her own good..' he thought.

"still, i'm really sorry.." jongho insisted. hyejin might never actually confessed to him, but still, he felt guilty hurting her feelings like that.

hyejin chuckled. "it's alright"

jongho pursed his lips, unsure where this was going. "are we good, then?"

hyejin nodded. "i'm sorry if hyunjin's threatening you or anything. he can be a bit dramatic at times"

jongho simply smiled at that.

"well, i've got to go. bye, sunbae"

"oh. yeah, sure. bye"

the girl walked off with jongho waving at her. after she's gone, jongho sighed.

"what's gonna happen now?"

hyejin's an angel although she's complicated af :/ but she's hyunjin's sister anyway
