it's been a week. the doctor informed that their father was brain dead. he was still breathing with the help of the machine but he won't ever wake up. the whole family felt devastated. they couldn't believe they had lost him just like that.

hyejin had been crying, she often find herself sitting at the park in front of the hospital alone for hours. yeji was at home, locking herself up in her room for days.

hyunjin was left alone to make sure his family's alright. he'd often check up on yeji and hyejin, making sure they'd eat and then returned to his parents only to see his mom sobbing beside his dad. their situation broke his heart.

mrs. hwang sat there, staring at her husband longingly. she had been crying non-stop to the point there were no more tears left. she'd been sitting there without moving an inch. hyunjin looked at her in concern.

"mom, you should go home. freshen yourself and rest. you haven't eaten properly.." his mother sadly smiled.

"i'll watch over dad" hyunjin said. his eyes begging for his mother to take a rest. the woman slowly nodded her head. she stood up to get her bag.

hyunjin sighed in relief. "do you want me to call you a taxi?"

his mother shook her head. "it's fine. just keep an eye out for your father"

he nodded. "call me whem you get home" his mother nodded before walking out of the room.

hyunjin heaved out a sigh before plopping down onto the chair. he stared at his dad's lifeless body.

"i'm sorry, dad.. if i hadn't called you that night, you'd still be here" he sobbed. "with us.."

the door was pushed open and in came a pale looking hyejin. hyunjin quickly wiped away his tears. "hyejin, have you eaten?"

"i'm not hungry" she quietly said. she made her way towards one of the couch and plopped herself onto it. she closed her eyes, wanting to get a quick nap when the door was pushed open again.

hyunjin turned his attention to the door and saw yeji standing there, her face void of emotion. she glanced at hyunjin and then at hyejin.

she walked in without saying anything and sat down on the couch at the other side of the room.

the room was quiet. only the sound of the machine was heard.

hyejin tried her best to ignore the tension. she continued to close her eyes as she tried to get the nap she so wanted.

after a while, yeji spoke up. "this is all your fault"

hyejin opened her eyes and saw yeji glaring at her. hyunjin turned around in his seat. he frowned. "yeji, not now-"

"if you hadn't been desperately wanting to play that stupid piano, we wouldn't have fought in the first place" yeji spat out.

hyejin scoffed. "and now you're blaming me?"

"yes! dad would've been alive right now if it weren't for you-"

"shut it!" hyunjin snapped. "the both of you were at fault! dad was on his way to stop your stupid fight and thanks to your overreacting ass, yeji, the last thing dad remembers was the thought of his own daughters fighting!" he panted. tears were threatening to fall.

yeji looked at the two before furiously stomped her way out of the room.
