~CLEMENTINES POV~

Y/N, Aj, and I walked down a random dirt path as we searched for any form of shelter. The sun was beginning to set and the growls of nearby walkers grew louder as they continued to get closer.

Y/N and I walked hand in hand while she carried a sleeping Aj in her arms, our entangled hands swung back and forth continuously with each step we took together. My eyes roamed the woods as I slowly grew anxious, Y/N seemed to notice this because she ran her thumb over my knuckles and leaned down to kiss my cheek.

A smile ghosted my lips and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in "You okay love?" Y/N questioned, her voice soothing and calm helping me relax almost instantly. "Yeah. I'm just worried that we wont find shelter for tonight" I spoke out in a quiet voice, careful not to be loud so I wouldn't disturb Aj's sleep.

Y/N nodded her head and let go of my hand to wrap her arm around my waist to pull me closer to her "We'll find some baby don't worry. And if we don't we'll stop somewhere and I'll stay up to keep watch" She spoke, the smile that once ghosted my lips grew wider as I rested my head on her shoulder "You shouldn't have to stay up, you're exhausted already".

She smiled and placed her head on top of mine "I'd rather be exhausted then lose either one of you" she spoke. I lifted my head from her shoulder and stopped walking to pull her into a kiss.

The kiss was filled with love and comfort, it was passionate and slow giving off a calming sensation. Her lips were soft and smooth which was surprising considering we were in the fucking apocalypse and she didn't have access to chap stick, but that thought slipped out of my mind as she pulled my body closer to hers to deepen the kiss.

When we finally pulled away she placed her forehead on mine, we stood there for minutes but those minutes felt like hours to me, her E/C orbs had me lost in thought, I was so lucky to have her. When she pulled away from me she interlocked our hands and continued our walk down the trail.

As we continued down the dirt trail I saw a building a few yards from us. I squeezed Y/N's hand and she looked to me with a smile, I pointed ahead of us at the building enthusiastically "Look!, we have shelter for the night!" she laughed and nodded her head "If it's safe we do. We'll see what it's like when we get closer" my smile slightly dropped and my excitement slowly deteriorated which she seemed to notice.

She sighed and squeezed my hand before lifting it to her lips to leave a gentle kiss "I know you want shelter but if it's dangerous we're not staying in it" I sighed and nodded my head slowly while looking at the ground as she gently pulled me with her, she left a gentle kiss on top of my head before looking forward and staying silent.

We now stood in front of the building I saw moments ago. The decrepit house had large holes in the wooden planks that aligned the walls, moss covered the wooden planks and parts of the roof were caving in. I turned to look at Y/N who was inspecting the outside, I already knew by her facial expression she wasn't going to let us stay in this house, but I had to push the option for staying here.

"Maybe its better inside?" I spoke out hoping to spark some interest and hope for her and this house. Y/N turned to look at me and huffed when she saw my expression "We'll check inside, but if its worse then the outside we are not staying here. Stay close to me and hold Aj."

She handed Aj to me and pulled out her combat knife before stepping onto the decaying porch. The wooden planks beneath our feet creaked loudly as our weight shifted above it. She took the door knob in her hand and twisted it open, the door was quiet but when it was fully opened it fell off the hinges with a loud thud against the floor.

We stayed quiet for a few minutes and waited for a sound, when the only sound was silence she moved further into the house.

The further we got into the house the creepier it got. When we entered one of the rooms the floor caved in underneath Y/N and half her leg fell into the ground, she gasped as she fell to the floor and winced in pain. I quickly ran to her and tried to help her out but it only made her pain worse so I stopped moving.

The noise caused by her fall mixed with her painful cries became too loud and it began to draw the attention of nearby walkers. Soon enough a large group of walkers entered the house and made their way towards the room we were in, I turned to Y/N who was still stuck in the floor and proceeded to pull her out causing her to scream at the top of her lungs as the splintered planks burrowed themselves further into her leg.

"S-stop Clem! Stop!" she cried out in pain, I continued to pull until she pushed my arms away from her. She turned to the walkers that had now fully entered the room we were in, before turning to look at me and Aj "C-Clementine you need to g-go" she spoke, I shook my head frantically and tried to grip onto her again to pull her up but she pushed me away once again.

"Clementine y-you need to go. G-get out of here, t-take care of AJ. I-I love you!" she yelled out, I sighed sadly and quickly rushed to her before pulling her in for a quick passionate kiss for the last time. When I pulled away she smiled tearfully at me and pushed me away gently but urgently "Go Clem" she whispered out.

I sobbed and grabbed onto Aj before running out of the house that held my dying lover. Her painful screams echoed throughout the dark woods as I carried a crying Aj in my arms while tears continuously fell out of my eyes and trailed down my cheeks.

Her cries stopped a few moments later but to me they never stopped.

I continued to sob and sob until I heard someones voice, they were calling out to me urgently as I felt someone shake my shoulders.

The voice grows louder before I come to my senses and shoot up from my laying position. My breathing became labored and beads of sweat covered my face while my eyes filled with fresh hot tears. When I turned to my side I saw Y/N sitting there with a worried look.

As soon as I saw her I latched onto her as tight as I could, with my face nuzzled into her neck I sobbed out. She held me just as tight as I did to her and gently ran her hand up and down my back while slowly swaying back and forth.

"Shh, it's okay baby, I'm here. You're okay" she whispered sweet nothings in my ears and kissed the top of my head repeatedly. As a few minutes passed my breathing went back to normal and my tears came to a stop.

I sniffled and nuzzled my face further into her neck, the sense of comfort she brought was all I wanted right now. When she noticed I calmed down she tried to pull away but I cried out and pulled her closer "Okay, okay. I'm right here Clem" she rubbed my back a few more times before pulling her head back slightly to kiss my tear stained cheeks.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" she questioned soothingly, her voice laced with sleep and concern. I shook my head quickly and she nodded her head "Okay baby, okay. Is there anything I can do?, I hate to see you so upset"

"Just hold me please" I whispered desperately while clinging onto her tighter if possible as the memories of the nightmare continued to flash through my mind.

She kissed my head repeatedly before laying down slowly "Okay Clem. I'm here when you wanna talk okay?. Lets go back to bed" I nodded my head and left a kiss on her neck "I love you" I whispered out lovingly. She sighed in content and pulled me close to her "I love you too Clem. Goodnight"

I closed my eyes and sighed happily before whispering back to the love of my life"Goodnight"
