She was never caught using her own wand, and that made her safe. As long she got her wand and stick to her plan, everything will be safe and no one— not even the trio will be harmed.
Her parents were always gone. Y/n even thought to herself that maybe they are meeting up with you-know-who again. She was left alone inside the Manor along with Kirk the house elf.
She lost track of the days and she felt like she's been trapped inside her room for a month. The trio and her was still communicating with each other using a patronus.
Hermione updated her that the DA already learnt on how to conjure a patronus, but then Professor Umbridge came along, exposing the DA, to which it was caused by Cho.
When y/n found that she was furious at her, disappointed even. She set aside all of her emotion about that because she have to do something. Something important than in what they're doing.
"This is it, you're going to do this," sighed y/n to herself, putting her wand inside her pocket.
The door creek opened and Kirk was standing in front of the door, reaching out a tray of food for her. Y/n never ate since the day her mother slapped her on the cheeks. She would never forget that day.
"Here's your food, miss. Is there anything you wan-"
"Stupefy!" y/n casted, as the spell hits on him. She muttered sorry to him and left.
Poor Kirk, he's an innocent elf. All he did was giving her out foods, but in the end, he ended up by being stupefied from the daughter of his master.
She looked at Kirk once again before dashing out in the hallway. Y/n turned her head left and right. Both path were clear, y/n ran downstairs, ready to go out. All those days of waiting, she's finally going out.
There's no one stopping her.
"Going somewhere?" her father asked.
Well, y/n was wrong. Proteus blocked the gate of their Manor. He pointed his wand at her. Never in million years he would do this right in front of her daughter. His heart broke, all he wanted his daughter to be safe that's all.
His situation was different from the other families. He did the wrong thing to do the right thing— but what if, he was wrong?
"Expelliar-" screamed y/n, but her father was too quick to get her wand.
"Accio wand!" and with that, Proteus held y/n's wand. Y/n widen her eyes. She have nothing to use to defeat her father now. She was hopeless.
Her father stood still, an angry expression wretched on his face. His face turned red as a tomato and his ear was like steaming as if it was tea pot. On the other hand, y/n balled up her fist, ready to fight. She was willing to fight with him— fighting for her freedom.
"I don't know why you do you kept on running away from us! All I did was to protect you and your mother! But what did you do, huh? Ran!" exclaimed Proteus, throwing his hand in the air, "You know how hard it is?! No, because all you did care was your friends back at Hogwarts! I should've said no when you wanted to study there... Then this wouldn't happen! I care about you and I did this because I-"
"Was scared! Father, you've been a coward all this time and yet, 15 years later, I realised this today... What if it all went wrong? Is it worth it? What did you gain all of these?"
There was no answer from her father. Y/n still remained on her place, trying not burst out in tears in front of him. Yet, she still continued.
"I know that you wanted me to be safe, but can't you see what you're doing? You're a death eater for godric's sake! You've killed innocent people and also tortured them. I know that my father wouldn't do this," said y/n, sobbing her heart out.
"But this would help us! The Dark Lord will help us!" his father remarked. "Please be one of us."
"He's lying! And I will never let myself lure into his orders... I know a man, who knows the word good, but not evil. I know a man who cared for people, but not killed them. I know a man who wasn't afraid of anything, but now, all I see a man in front of me, pleading that his daughter would be safe if they were on the dark side. I know a man who loves his daughter and his wife more than anything in the world..." there was long pause from her before she continued. Her breath wasn't steady anymore, it was now shaking, "I know a man who's name is Proteus Belortu Guildford. He's my father, but now I can't find him anywhere."
Proteus' face remained blank, but his heart was already crying. Y/n did not have her wand to fight with her father, but her words hurt like a thousands knives piercing into his skin.
"Try to understand me, y/n... Please," he cried, "If you were in my shoes, you'd understand."
Y/n was about to say something, but her mouth remained shut. She knew that she was right, but she also knew that she made some mistakes. And so did her father. They were both in the middle— between right and wrong.
Her father, on the other hand, did all of these for her daughter. As for y/n, she knew that he could've done something other than that. Rather him being a death eater.
With everything in her mind, she doesn't know to do anymore. She was having a hard time whether to think about her father's situation or not— because after all, Proteus is still her father and she was the daughter.
She began to think of her father's situation. It must've been so hard for him. As a father of the family, he would do anything to protect his own family against all odds.
Proteus sighed and looked down on his feet.
"There's an upcoming war and everyone is picking sides, even you," said her father. "You have to pick. In the end, it's you and these two options: choose
Her eyes went huge. When she heard that she quickly remembered something. The one that Professor Trelawney had told her.
~
"I still don't quite get it..." She whispered.
"The right path will be terrifying at first, but then eventually you'll be happy about it. Wrong path will be the smart choice but... Just like what I said you'll regret it," Professor Trelawney explained.
"So, all this time... I was wrong? It wasn't Harry nor Draco," she mumbled to herself. Her father looked at her confused, "If choose to be with the good side, then why I'll be terrified?"
It's because your life will be endangered when you're with the good side. Answered the tiny voice in her mind.
"And what bad thing would happen? But what if-" her voice trailed off, as she looked at her father. "If I choose to become a death eater then it'll be the smart choice, but I'll regret it for the rest of my life," she didn't realised that she was thinking way too loud. Her father stepped in, telling that she won't regret it, for she will be safe with them.
Y/n doesn't want to live her life with full regret— that's sad than dying alone.
She turned her back at him and laughed as if Peeves told her some crappy joke.
"I was wrong thinking to myself that all this time I have to choose between two boys! Harry or Draco. But then, I realised, I'm wrong. It was me between my family, who's a death eater or them, who fought nothing, but do good things," she ended with a chuckle.
"What are you talking about?" her father asked her, worriedly. He thought that his own daughter is going mad. He don't know what is happening to his daughter. He did not know whether to be worried about her or not.
He doesn't even get it about what y/n when she started talking about choosing sides.
"Dad, I'm going to tell you something, but you have to promise me one thing."
