EXT. BLUE BASE - DAY
CHURCH, TUCKER, and the BLUE ROOKIE are standing on the blue base, looking out into the canyon.
CHURCH: (His helmet tilted, voice laced with disbelief) Let me get this straight... you gave this guy our flag. The blue flag. To a red guy.
ROOKIE: (Confused, shrugging his shoulders) Is that bad? He seemed really nice. And he said he was the General.
CHURCH: (Voice rising, a manic edge to it) Bad? Oh no, that's not bad. That's not bad at all! Next time he comes over, why don't you just help him blow up the whole God damn base?! Maybe give him the launch codes for the nukes!
ROOKIE: ... We have nukes?
TUCKER: (Ignores the Rookie and points across the canyon) There, there he is. The red guy. With our flag.
Church raises the sniper rifle, peering through the scope. He spots DONUT, trotting along with the blue flag draped over his shoulder.
CHURCH: (Through the scope, a low growl) Where... oh, yeah, oh, I got him. He's sneaking around back behind the cliffs. The little bastard.
TUCKER: (Impressed) He must be one smart son of a bitch. Sneaking around like that. Who knew the Reds had someone competent?
EXT. GULCH - DAY
DONUT is walking along a rocky path, the blue flag still casually slung over his shoulder.
DONUT: (Muttering to himself, completely lost) Oh, man, I am so freakin' lost. Where the hell is the base? I thought this was a shortcut. This canyon is way bigger than it looks on the map.
EXT. BLUE BASE - DAY
Back on the blue base.
CHURCH: (His voice suddenly laced with dawning horror) Oh, shit... Hey Tucker, look at his armor. Really look at it. It's Red. Not maroon. Red.
TUCKER: (Squints, then his helmet snaps up) Oh man, that means it's their Sergeant! The big boss! That's why he was so confident!
CHURCH: (Nods slowly, a grim realization) Well, that makes sense. At least now we know how he got by our defenses. He's probably some super-stealthy, highly trained operative. A real threat.
ROOKIE: (Interjecting, oblivious) Uh, you know, he came in the back door where you guys were standing. He just walked right in.
TUCKER: (Ignoring the Rookie) Yeah, okay, well let's take him out then. Before he gets away with our flag.
CHURCH: (Nods, adjusting his sniper rifle) Roger that. Okay, say goodnight, Sarge. You won't be stealing any more flags.
Church takes four shots, the rifle cracking loudly. All of them visibly miss to the left, kicking up dust harmlessly.
EXT. GULCH - DAY
Donut flinches, hearing the shots.
DONUT: (Yelps, jumping) Son of a bitch! What was that?!
EXT. BLUE BASE - DAY
Back on the blue base.
CHURCH: (Frustrated) Aw crap.
TUCKER: (A long, drawn-out silence, then) ...
CHURCH: (Impatiently) ...What? Don't tell me.
TUCKER: (His voice flat, utterly unimpressed) You're really not very good with that thing, are you, Church. Like, at all.
EXT. GULCH - DAY
Donut, still walking, turns and shouts back towards the blue base.
DONUT: (Waving the flag) Hey! It's me! Don't shoot! I'm the guy that bought the flag and the shotgun shells, remember!? From your store!
