EXT. RED BASE - DAY
GRIF and DONUT are on the red base, looking down at SARGE and the Warthog's smoking wreckage.
GRIF: (To Donut, a weary sigh) Is it just me, or does this jeep seem like really bad luck? Every time we get near it, something explodes.
SIMMONS: (Walking up, having just arrived from the Warthog's explosion) Yeah. You know, now that you mention it, it does seem like every time we get into the damn thing, it breaks, or explodes, or goes crazy and tries to kill one of us. And now Ghost is missing! He just vanished!
DONUT: (Thinking aloud, polishing his pink armor) Maybe we should try exchanging it for a few motorcycles. No, wait, wait, wait, a big tank like the Blues have. That thing never seems to have any problems at all. It just sits there, being blue.
EXT. BLUE BASE - DAY
The Blues, near SHEILA, the tank. LOPEZ (Church's former body) and GHOST are working on it.
CHURCH (AS GHOST): (His ghostly form hovering over Lopez, a determined tone) Alright, that's the deal, mister robot. You fix our tank, we'll let you go free. No strings attached.
CABOOSE: (Whispering to Tucker, confused) I thought the plan was to trick him into fixing the tank, and then Church will take over his body again when he is done. That's what Church said.
TUCKER: (Whispering back, exasperated) Yeah. But you don't tell the person you're tricking what's going on, Caboose. That defeats the purpose of "trick."
CABOOSE: (A thoughtful frown) So if I'm the one being tricked, then you would not tell me what is really going on? Like, ever?
TUCKER: (Shrugs) Why would we trick you? You usually just do what we say anyway.
CABOOSE: (A knowing look) Oh, I think you know.
LOPEZ: (In Spanish, his voice still broken, looking at Ghost) ¿Dónde yo iré? (Where will I go?)
LOPEZ: Mis amigos quieren matar me. (Even my friends have tried to kill me.)
GHOST: (Flatly, to Lopez) I didn't... I saved you.
LOPEZ: (A faint glimmer of hope in his optical sensor) a excepción de fantasma. (Except for Ghost.)
CHURCH (AS GHOST): (To Lopez) Okay, I'm gonna take that as a yes, aaand let you get busy with tank fixing. Chop chop.
LOPEZ: (In Spanish, a mournful tone) No tengo hogar. (I have no home.)
GHOST: (To Lopez, a rare, almost comforting tone) Here, I'll help out... We'll figure something out.
LOPEZ: Gracias mi amigo. (Thank you, my friend.)
GHOST: No problem. Just focus on the tank.
EXT. RED BASE - DAY
Back to the Reds. Everyone except Grif is around the jeep's wreckage. Grif is ON the jeep, looking through the sniper rifle at the distant Blues.
GRIF: (Shouting, frustrated) Aw crap. Hey, uh, they got two guys fixing their tank. Two!
SARGE: (Stares through his binoculars, bewildered) Impossible! Our intelligence clearly states...
DONUT: (Confused) We have intelligence? I thought we just had a lot of yelling.
SARGE: (Continues, ignoring Donut) That the only soldiers in this canyon with mechanical training, are that dead freelancer, Ghost, and Lopez, oh wait a minute.
SIMMONS: (To Sarge, a dawning realization) Sarge, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Lopez runs away, the jeep starts driving itself, and suddenly there's a new guy on the blue team? And now Ghost's gone missing! This is too many coincidences!
