THE EXPLANATION

the last chapters were flashbacks at different points of aracely's life and childhood.

i wanted readers to perceive the message of her troubled youth, which i chose her ninth birthday to do so.

notice how she waited until 12, the exact moment of her birthday, while everyone else was asleep, to celebrate.

notice how she celebrated herself, with one cupcake and one candle, alone and in the dark.

notice her birthday wish.

fast forward to her "family celebration". notice the violence and commotion. how nothing can go right, how her own simple birthday party has to go to shit.

i want the readers to imagine what life may be like on a day to day basis, if things like this occur on her special day.

rethink back to her conversation about her tree tattoo, back in jail. how she said she wasn't one for attachments because her last one hadn't gone well.

the "my tree lost all its leaves" chapter is the explanation.

another step back to her family and negative upbringing, notice how it's noted that the glass in her bathroom mirror is shattered because of a fight that occurred.

notice how it's easily, loosely described.

this is a regular occurrence to her.

i want the readers to perceive the message of her growing up in violence, pain and anger. i want the readers to understand why she behaves the way she does.

it isn't out of pure "craziness". this is all she knows. this is what she thinks is normal.

she does not kill herself/die in the pool. (obviously, notice her hair is brown at the time of this chapter, this is aracely at 14 years old)

however, this is her state of rebirth. she resurfaces just before she loses consciousness, and this is the rebirth to the new aracely.

while she still carries some of her past features with her, like her anger and 'craziness', she is reborn.

notice how she sees red in the water, and in present of the story, her hair is red.

notice how she's noted to be thin, and weak, and in present of the story, she's heavier set, and healthy.

understand when i ask you to channel and open your mind, this is what i refer to. you must dig deep and pay attention to more than just the words on your screen when you read this book.

this book is deeper than words. it's a riddle.

there are many messages, hidden and underlying in this book. i want you, as a reader, to pay close attention and try to notice, decipher and understand these messages.

notice how she never speaks on, or even thinks of her past self. she leaves it behind, because she's evolving into a new person.

however, no matter how much you evolve, you cannot run away from every aspect of your past. and this is what you will see clearly soon.

enjoy.
