“But you’re not just any guy, Matt,” I said while mimicking Danie’s voice. Nag-pout pa ako ng lips na parang may hahalikan.
“Tigilan mo nga ako,” naiiritang sabi ni Danie.
Tumingin ako sa kanya at mukhang nagba-blush na rin siya.
“I thought I was watching a movie back there,” lalo ko pang pang-aasar sa kanya.
“Arggggghhhh!”
Tumawa na lang ako sa reaksyon niya and nag-focus sa pagda-drive.

I may look strong and having an easy life... The happy-go-lucky guy but the truth is...I’ve always been living behind my dad’s shadow.
Mukha pa lang at istilo ng pagsasalita ay kuhang-kuha ko na raw sa daddy ko. Akala ko noong una maganda ‘yun pero habang lumilipas ang taon, I felt like they don’t want me to become myself anymore. They just wanted me to become my dad.
It came the time that we had to go back to the Philippines. Nalugi raw kasi ang negosyo ng pinsan ni daddy. At first, I thought it was a ridiculuous idea. I mean, why would dad and mom want me to come with them?
Business matters pa rin naman yun, di ba?
We reached my tito’s house and my questions were answered.
There, sitting on the doorway was a beautiful, little girl about my age. She was hugging her teddy bear so tight and was about to cry. Lumapit naman ako sa kinauupuan niya at inilahad ang kamay ko.
“Hi! I’m Phillip,” sabi ko sa kanya habang nakangiti.
She shook my hand and barely smiled at me.
“Gusto mo laro tayo?”
And by that question, her lonely eyes glistened and she smiled – one of the sweetest smiles I’ve ever seen.
Daniella was a really timid girl then. She was so fragile, so sensitive yet so strong. She usually cried for small things and stuffs. She’s really afraid of thunder and lightning.
Kadalasan, tatakbo siya at magtatalukbong ng kumot kapag sumasama na ang panahon. She was and still is a baby. But the best thing about her is that she appreciates even the smallest thing you did for her.
