Aʟᴀɪɴᴀ

"Do you ever just want to like...start over?" I asked Wayne as we laid in the grass. We were back to the park.

"Nah" he shook his head. "Well why not" I asked. "Cause if I started over then I wouldn't have met you" he said.

"Mane you so corny" I said as he laughed. "You like me corny tho" he said. "Yeah. I kinda do" I smiled.

"I think I'm ready" I said. "Ready for what?" He asked. "To tell you bout my ex, Jay. I just wanna get it off my chest" I said.

"I'm listening" he said. I sat criss cross applesauce.

"We met in high school but we was just friends then" I said. "We would go out and do the craziest shit. Always going out, having fun. We were young and carefree. Reckless. I mean I'm still young tho but we was like wayyyyyy young" I said.

"He asked me out in junior year and then we started dating and it was all good. My mama loved him. Hell, I think I even loved him. I never got around to telling him tho" I said.

"And why not?"

"Cause that's everything went down fucking hill. He started questioning me. Keeping tabs on me. Asking around for me" I said. "He was moving real sneaky like he didn't trust me or sum'" I said.

"He started acting all insecure and shit. Accusing me of cheating. Calling me out my name. Shit he started going through my phone, acting like a damn bitch" I said.

"And you let him?" He asked. "Hell naw. I didn't. We would fight and go days on end without talking to each other. Then he would pull this grand gesture and apologize. I always forgave him cause I loved him" I said.

"Then one day he accused me of cheating on him. We got into this nasty ass argument and he-" I choked a sob. Wayne pulled me into a hug. "It's okay. You don't have to finish" he whispered in my ear.

"I lied" I said as I pulled away. "What?" He asked. I wiped my tears away with the back of my hand.

"I lied when I told you my dad died cause of cardiac arrest" I said. "Jay killed him. Jay killed him and he died and he left me" I sobbed as I felt new tears spring up in my ears.

"I told my dad about it and he went to talk to Jay" I said. "He never came back. He was found dead on the side of the road the next day. The police came knocking on our doors and I told them everything I knew" I said. "They arrested Jay soon enough and he serving life in jail"

"My mama wouldn't look at me for weeks and I felt horrible because I felt like I was the person that killed my dad"

"Hey no you weren't. You didn't know" He said as he hugged me tighter. I was afraid to let go. It felt like he was going to disappear if I did.

"I'm sorry for pouring that out on you" I said, sniffling a bit. "I prefer a crying midget to an angry midget any day" he said. "I told you stop calling me midget" I said as I wiped away my tears.

"I can't. It's your nickname" he said. "Mane be original". He scoffed.

"Like Five is original" he said and I smiled

"Mane I'm falling off" I whined as I held onto him. "Well if your fatass would lose some weight, I would be able to carry you" he said. I kicked his side a lil and he pinched my thigh.

So I stopped crying a long ass time ago. We talked for a while before I said that I wanted ice cream. I forced him to gimme a piggyback ride tho.

"Mane that hurt" I said. "As it should"

We got to the ice cream parlor and I made him carry me to the inside. "Welcome to Frosty's. What would you like?" The woman asked. "Whatchu want five?" I asked him. "Surprise me"

"Gimme two scoops of caramel and chocolate and two scoops of mint chocolate chip"

She scooped them up real nice into cones and gave it to me. "Thanks" I smiled as I took them. Wayne paid and we left.

"How you know I like chocolate?" He asked as I gave him the caramel and chocolate one. "Who don't?" I asked. "Hol' onto this for me?" I asked. He took the other ice cream cone from me and I tried to get some grip on his back.

"Real talk tho, you getting heavy" he said. "Put me down then" I said. "Ight" he said and tilted his body so I could fall.

I fell right on my ass on that sidewalk while he laughed his ass off.

"Fuck you mane" I said as I stood up. I snatched my ice-cream from him.

We walked back to the park in silence. "Whatchu thinking bout?" I asked. "Us. It's funny how we only known each other for like three weeks but it feel like an eternity"

"Cause we always hanging out. I might as well be living in your damn house cause I'm always there" I said

"Hell nah. Imma go crazy if you moved in" he said and I laughed.

"What are your fears?" I asked. "How you go from goofy to serious in a second?" He asked. I shrugged and he shook his head. "Answer the question"

"I'm not really afraid of things" he shrugged. "That's cap. Everybody got some fears" I said.

"I'm afraid of losing the people that matter"  he said. "Me too" I said.

"It's like...you don't know when they're gonna leave you or something so you just sit, anticipating, praying it doesn't come" I said. "That's exactly how I feel" he said.

"Y'know five, don't tell Zee but you my best friend" I said, stopping to look at him.

"Don't Relly but you mine too" he said. "Wait. Relly your best friend?" I asked.

"No but he swear we brothers" he said and I laughed.

Okay this chapter short for a reason. I can't handle all these bad vibes. This chapter ass tho cause I was just like...mane wtf am I supposed to write?

I just had to get this shit out the way to focus on more important things🤗
