"Dismissed." sabi ko sa mga sundalong eni-ensayo ko.
Dumeretso muna ako sa comfort room bago pumunta sa barracks para makapag pahinga lang saglit. Alas kwatro na ng hapon kami natapos mag training kaya napagod talaga ako dahil bagong recruit lang na mga sundalo ang tinuturuan ko.
Pagod na pagod kong itiinumba ang sarili ko sa kama at napapikit pa. Nakakapagod talaga mag train sa mga baguhan.
Mayamaya nakarinig ako ng ilang ingay mula sa labas dahilan para bumangon ako. Sumilip ako sa maliit na bintana ng kwarto para tingnan kung sino ang mga dumating, but I almost had a heart attack when I saw a familiar car.
"Oh my god, Is he here?" I covered my mouth in nervousness.
I took a deep breath before I decided to go outside. I frowned when I saw military trucks parked on the field. These trucks were from the camp where I duty a years ago. What is happening?!
Lumapit ako sa isang sundalo na malapit lang sa akin.
"Anong meron?" I asked him.
"Ah ma'am, dumating po ang team ni Captain Vendalle ng delta team." He answered that made my eyes widened.
So, he's here? After years of not seeing each other. . . magkikita na ba ulit kami?
"Ma'am Ruiz, pinapatawag ka po sa office ni General Orlando." Sabi nung sundalo.
Tumango lang ako sa kanya at naglakad na papunta sa opisina ni General. Nang matanaw ang opisina niya ay kusang bumagal ang lakad ko dahil sa kaba.
I saw three familiar soldiers standing outside the office and one of them is my cousin. She happily waved at me. I smiled and nod at them.
"Bakit kayo andito?" Tanong ko sa pinsan kong si Alex.
"Gyera." She simply answered.
Napakunot ang noo ko. "Gyera saan?"
Sinenyas niya sa akin ang opisina ni General. "May naghihintay sa'yo sa loob." Aniya kaya napatingin ako doon.
Huminga muna ako ng malalim bago kumatok ng tatlong beses.
"This is Technical Sergeant, Akesha Ruiz, General." I slowly hold the doorknob and open it. "Sir!" Sumaludo agad ako nang tuluyan akong makapasok sa loob.
I almost couldn't move my whole body when I met the eyes of the man who's in front of me. He's now looking straight into my eyes like he's looking into my soul.
I can't believe it. He is still the same. His face and body hasn't changed at all. He is still stunning, handsome, muscular and looks strict. He is still the same man I left before.
But... but the way he looked at me, it feels like he hated me. He already moved on?
"Ibaba mo na kamay mo." Biglang nagsalita si General.
I breath heavily as I looked away. Ang init! Para akong aatakihin sa puso!
"Come here," utos ni General.
Nagdadalawang isip akong humakbang palapit sa kanila. It's so suffocating! Tatlo lang kami dito sa opisina pero pakiramdam ko ang konti ng hangin na nalalanghap ko.
I stood up beside this man and put both of my hands on my back. Umayos ako ng tayo bago tumingin sa harapan. Para naman akong sinabuyan ng malamig na tubig nang bigla kong makita ang repleksyon namin nitong katabi ko sa salamin na nakakabit mismong harap ng kinatatayuan naming dalawa.
I immediately looked away when I caught him staring at me through the mirror. Bakit ba siya nakatingin?
Tumikhim si General at tumayo.
"Captain Vendalle's team has an operation in Masbate province. Ipapadala ko ang ilan sa mga sundalo ko na narito para tumulong sa kanila. If you want to be part of his team papayag ako."
Pagkasabi ni General nun ay nag-angat ako ng tingin sa salamin para tignan ang reaksyon ni Captain. Our eyes met for the third time but this time siya ang nag iwas ng tingin.
"Hindi po ako sasama, General." I answered.
Halatang inaasahan na iyon ni General sa akin. "Why?" Tanong niya pa rin.
"I still have work here, General. I don't think they need me there. Kaya na po nila gawin ang trabaho doon. Permission to leave the room, General?" Buong loob kong sabi.
"I understand. You may go."
Umayos ako ng tayo at sumaludo. "Mauuna na po ako, General..." aniko at dahan-dahan na humarap sa katabi ko. "... Captain," halos pabulong kong sabi tsaka mabilis na naglakad palabas ng opisina.
I ran to our barracks and locked the door. I didn't get a chance to talk to Alex dahil mas pinili ko na mag kulong na lang dito sa loob.
How can I work with the person I left in my past?
After a minute of staring at the wall I suddenly received a text message from Alex.
From: Alex Labas.
That's it. Wala nang kasunod 'yon. Kahit na nagdadalawang isip tumayo pa rin ako at lumabas. I tried to dialed her number but it's unavailable now. Nakakunot na ang noo ko habang nagtitipa ako ng text sa kanya. Pinapalabas niya ako pero wala naman siya dito.
I message her again but she's not responding. I also called her many times but she's also not answering my calls. Napapadyak na ako sa sahig dahil sa inis sa kanya.
"Papalabasin mo ako tapos- ay!" Nabitawan ko ang cellphone ko nang bumangga ako sa kung sino. "Sorry!" I apologize while getting my phone on the floor. "Sorry hindi ko- Captain?!" Gulat kong sabi at napaatras agad.
He stepped towards me and held one of my hand. He handed me a black little box that made me look so confused.
His eyes is emotionless. I don't what he's thinking. I think this is my karma for what I've done to him. I can't breathe.
"Ano 'to?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper.
May ideya na ako kung ano ang laman nito pero... gusto kong marinig ang boses niya.
He sighed.
"I'm just returning it to you." He simply answered and walked away from me as I was left staring at his back.
I opened the box to see what was inside of it. My lips started to tremble when I saw a ring. My engagement ring. Our engagement ring.
Tears started to stream down my cheeks as I remember our last time together. The pain that I hide slowly flashing back to me.
Leaving him is the best decision I've made for us. We will only be hurt if we try to resist love without a certain happy ending.
