A/N: This chapter also goes pretty far off from the Episode itself so you have been warned, however, I don't really recommend skipping it, this is a kind of important chapter for the rest of the story.
Wow. A Romance Chapter ( XLVI )
" Folks say, Barbara, why can't you see that ceramics is simply a manifestation of motherly panic by making a baby that's breakable aren't you creating a way of translating the terror of making maternal mistakes into clay, hiding away so you don't have to face being a bad mom? Barbara? That's what you've done! Barbara! Just make a start! Are you willing to take the next step? Ready, set!"
There was a light knock on the door before Laurence stuck his head into the room to see Alex lying on her chair, listening to music and staring at the opposite wall.
" Lex?"
She glanced over to the door before going back to looking at nothing.
" I know you can hear me, Lex. You've been in a funk ever since Aaron and Aphmau broke up, Garroth, Travis, Dante, and I are beginning to become concerned for you."
She glanced down at her hands, which were folded neatly in her lap, her dog lying close." I'm worried about how Aphmau's taking this."
"... And?"
" And?"
" Normally when something like this happens you're out there doing your best to cheer up whoever's upset. The Alex I know would be out checking on Aphmau, taking care of her in these dark times, but instead, you've basically just locked yourself in your room."
" Well... I mean..." the freckled girl took closed her eyes and took a deep breath in an attempt to calm down." For as long as I've known Aphmau, she's been the most likable person around, and she and Aaron have had the closest thing I could compare to a 'healthy relationship' for a long time, and now that that's gone, I don't really know what to think, it seems a bit hopeless..."
" Hopeless?"
She curled her legs up close, staring at the books next to her." I mean... Aphmau and Aaron, I've always kind of looked up to them, like I said they were more of my parents than my actual dad was, nothing against him of course... and I'm just repeating things now... I just-"
" Worry?"
" What?"
" Lex, for as long as I've known you, I've never seen nor heard of anyone taking any romantic interest in you-"
" And?"
" I know for a fact you're Demiromantic, and I know that you've found a person you're close enough to for you to gain a romantic interest in, and I happen to know who that person is-"
" I sincerely hope this conversation isn't going where I think it's going."
" You said earlier that Aphmau and Aaron were the closest thing you ever saw to a healthy relationship-"
" Laurence-"
" I have an idea, now hear me out. Lex, I'm going to set up a date for you, and you don't have to go on a second date at all... just try going on one date, just to test the waters, and if anything, try to take your mind off of what's going on with Aphmau and Aaron."
" I-... you know what? I'll humor you, if you do somehow find someone willing to go on a single date with me, I'll do it... but if not, can you at least agree to leave me to mope in peace until I'm ready to be more social again?"
