Chrisy had barely stumbled through the day.Barely made it to classes. Barely made it home.
After a long frustrating weekend, then finally getting her phone and her car back, she thought she would finally be able to take a breathe. Things were looking up and her father had finally cut her some slack.
Instead her agony only worsened. She constantly wondered where Josh was and when she would actually hear from him again. He'd made sure to turn his phone off. That meant no calls, no GPS, no internet. She secretly wondered if her father had had anything to do with it.
She entered her father's office and sat on the sofa for five silent minutes, not quite sure how to articulate what she felt.
"What is it?" Horace finally asked her.
"You promised you'd help him...You told me it was gonna be okay...I trusted you..."
"What are you talking about?"
A single tear escaped her eye.
"I'm talking about Josh...Is it because of me... because of the other day? Why would you suddenly decide he wasn't worth your help?"
"No sweety...its not you,"
"Then what? Things were finally making sense, I dont understand."
"I'm sorry...it just didnt work out."
She wiped the tear away.
"You didn't try hard enough... You said you only wanted the best for me..."
"Maybe this is the best. Josh needs his family just as much as you need yours."
"Is this why you called them? You wanted him gone? Well congrats."
"Called them? I didn't call anyone."
"I don't believe you...what's going to happen now? Where is he going to go?"
"Home where he belongs,"
"Wake up dad, Josh and Reid are never going home. They'll keep hiding, and I'll probably never see Josh again... I was happy, finally, and now it's over and it's your fault."
She got up and left.
He called out after her but whether or not she hadn't heard him, she hadn't processed it, or she didn't want to answer, he wasn't sure, she just did not answer. She went straight to her room and closed the door.
She did not come down until the next morning.
At breakfast she did not look at her father or speak to him, and she only looked at the food, she did not eat.
"Good morning Chrisy." Horace greeted.
No response.
"Sebastian made your favorite, blueberry pancakes,"
She said nothing.
"I know you're upset chrisy but... "
He was interrupted by the honk of Kerry's horn.
"Kerry's here. I'm driving with her today,"
Those were the only words she offered before getting up from the table and leaving the house.
-----------
Chrisy went through the rest of the week in a daze. Nothing was the same at home, or at school. She got by on the memories Josh and her had made and she wore him next to her heart in the other side of the pink diamond locket.
