Chrisy had kept her promise.
She didn't want to be sick anymore and just the thought of having her mother proud of her made good motivation.
At around 10. She sat with Maria and sipped herbal tea sweetened with honey.
At one thirty PM, Sebastian made her a chocolate shake for lunch, because
She could never be able to have a strawberry one again. Not after the way her father had forced one down her throat. Her stomach wanted to refused it but she swallowed slowly and digested just as slowly. It took her half an hour to empty the glass but, she did. After Maria had dinner at seven with the rest of the household she brought Chrisy up a small bowl of yogurt with chunks of fruit.
She tasted. She made faces in it with her spoon. But she couldn't eat anything else.
Her father had come up to see her once.
He had said nothing about the previous day.
He kissed her forehead and told her he was proud of the little progress she had made.
He didn't say he was sorry for yelling, making her cry, forcing shake into her stomach. She thought he should have been sorry, but he apparently wasn't because he didnt say so.
She felt better. And when Maria had given her her supplements before bed she had not protested. Obediently, she took them and drifted of to sleep with Maria right there next to her.
--------------It felt good to wake up Thursday morning with no needles in her arm.
Maria had kept her promise. She'd told Chrisy as soon as she started putting something into her stomach she'd stop the IV's, and she did.
She had a few stomach cramps.
Maria fixed it.
Maria could fix anything, she mused.
She ate more. She didnt get out of bed but gradually, she was feeling better.
As she sipped on her warm milk before bed she vowed she'd try to get out of bed the next day.
Maria had suggested a movie and as they sat and watched Chrisy thought of Josh.
What was he doing tonight? She hoped he was okay. She hoped he was having a better night than she was as discomfort had her twisting and turning and fluffing pillows.
If only she knew that Josh was in discomfort himself.
He layed in bed sore from his first cage fight. He too had drifted off to sleep with an uncomfortable stomach. After throwing up over and over from the site and smell of blood, and from the new experience of pounding someone so hard that skin broke and life threatened.
-----------Each day became better for her.
Friday Morning she woke strong enough to get out of bed all on her own. The dizziness had subsided for the most part and she wandered to the balcony to get some fresh air for the first time in days and without anyone's help.
She appreciated the Morning view.
The shades of greens that flourished on the hillsides and the clear blue skies that formed a blanket over them. She inhaled the chill of crisp clean air and sighed. She wished her mother was there with her. She held on to the locket around her neck. And wished for the two people she kept closest to her heart.
When Maria entered the bedroom and saw her leaning against the balcony she ran to her aid quickly and pleaded to her not to jump.
Chrisy's giggles floated from her like musical notes from a piano.
