"There's five to a clip, let's go." I walked into the tent that Bellamy's voice was sourcing from. "We need to get these guns on the wall."
I poked my head in to see Harper, Jasper, Monty, Raven, and Bellamy lauding bullets.
"Why just five?" Monty inquired as I stepped into the tent.
"We're running out of gunpowder." Raven answered as she looked up to see me.
"We're so dead." I moved around Bellamy, trying to avoid contact as he left little to no room for me to squeeze by.
"Don't worry, I got your back." I rose a brow at Jasper as he said the words with such confidence. And then I turned my attention to Monty as he scoffed.
"Got something to say?" Jasper asked defensively. I looked up at Raven as she just rolled her eyes. They must have been going through some form of a quarrel.
"Hey, guys, stay focused. We are doing good." She interrupted the tension between the two, drawing my attention back to the guns. "We need as many rounds done by dawn as we can."
"It's not going to be enough." I said, grabbing a gun and beginning to load it up. Ignoring the stares being sent my way. "We need to delay them, there is no way in hell you five are going to get enough rounds in the guns by the time the grounders are at our gate. And Raven you said it yourself, we're low on gunpowder. There's more than one clan of grounders out there, who's to say they don't come and help." I set the gun in the pile as Finn walked into the tent.
"What do we need to build a bomb?" I looked at Finn a smirk on my face.
"Bombing the bridge, excellent choice Spacewalker." I followed Finn's example and leaned against the table resting on my fingertips.
"What are you two talking about?" Finn and I looked at each other, mentally debating who was going to explain.
"Murphy said he crossed a bridge to get here from the grounder's camp." I explained as the two of us turned back to Bellamy.
"Sound familiar? Finn added.
"Yeah, so what?" Bellamy has once again become a non-intellectual.
"So, we blow the only way to get from grounder camp to 100 camp and bam! No grounders in the morning before the sun." I explained as if talking to a five year old, using my hands to make gestures.
"Giving us plenty of time to get prepared and have people who can shoot as the virus passes through them quickly." Finn finished.
"Even if Murphy was telling the truth, and that's a big if, that bridge has survived a nuclear war and 97 years of weather." As Bellamy became an intellectual again, I met Raven's gaze.
"It won't survive me." I smirked, this zero-g mechanic was doing just fine in g.
________•*•*•*•________
Bellamy took Raven, Monty, Jasper, and Finn to the exodus crash while I stayed in camp. Bellamy claimed he didn't want me going in order to have a healthy leader in camp. Really I think after last night, he just didn't want me to try and run off again. Which I was totally over. I was here for this. For them.
The group came back shortly after I got the watch switched, taking up a post at the main gate where the five went so I would know as soon as they walked back in. Which was now.
I jumped down from the stand and got them to open the gate, following Raven back to her work tent to ask her and explain what she was doing.
"This is hydrazine,"
"Rocket fuel." I concluded as I accidentally interrupted her.
"Very dangerous in its non-solid form. You missed my demonstration the day we went onto check the crash site. But long story short, explosions." I nodded listening intently as she returned to her task of looting the hydrazine in a clear jar.
"When we are ready to set it off, all we have to do is set this in the container, pour gunpowder around it, and hit the center."
"The bullet will create the reaction right?"
"In a way yes, it'll start it. But after that its the gun powder and fuel that will blow the bridge to bits."
"Perfect."
Raven took her helmet off as she stepped back to where I was standing.
"Okay, you can come in now." I was wearing a smug smile as Bellamy and Finn walked into the tent. Raven didn't let them in so she could concentrate, so you can bet Bellamy shot me a jealous glare on top of his angry glare from earlier, just before he became entranced with the dangerous liquid.
Bellamy started to reach for the jar, slowly like he wasn't sure if he was allowed to touch it or not. Didn't matter.
"Boom!" Raven and I shouted, laughing slightly at the other as we hadn't planned to be in sync.
"That's cute." The sarcasm dripped from Bellamy's voice as he stepped backwards.
"Relax. It needs an accelerant. Gunpowder." Raven grabbed the gunpowder from the table as I stayed in between Finn and Bellamy.
Raven grabbed the container the hydrazine and gunpowder would go in and began to explain how it worked to the two news.
"Container of hydrazine. Put the gunpowder around the hydrazine. Hit the bullseye, win a prize."
"It's the rest of our gunpowder, we won't be able to make anymore bullets." Bellamy said when he saw the container of gunpowder.
"Tonight we need a bomb. We can worry about bullets tomorrow." I nodded in agreement to Finn's words.
"If we do this and it doesn't work, we'll all be dead tomorrow." I stepped forward, turning around and leaning against the metal work table.
"Oh, ye, of so little faith. Aren't you taking the shot, oh almighty gunman?" Bellamy held a small smirk in his face as he rolled his eyes at my attempt to lighten up the mood.
"Come on, lighten up. Dying is just part of the ride, you know, YODO." The three looked at me like I was crazy.
"You only die once, seriously, it's like talking to children." I muttered under my breath as I turned to face the container that now had a white 'x' marked on it.
"To be safe you need to be at least 200 feet away to make the shot." Raven said after a small pause of silence.
"No problem, which one of you plants the bomb?" Raven and Finn were quiet at Bellamy's question. And I could feel the awkwardness in the air as I leaned off the table and turned to face Bellamy.
"I am." I looked into his brown eyes. "So you better not fucking miss, or I'll never let you live it down."
