"We're going after Clarke, Finn, and Monty. You and Raven were right. We don't abandon our own. Two guns- just you and me." I rested my head against the wall as I clenched my fists. "That's it."
"No, I'm going. You two are staying here." I pushed off the wall and started walking towards the hatch.
"I'm going with then." Bellamy's voice was husky and I could tell he was getting close to losing it. "Raven stays here to build up defenses. We lost a day because of this, and our gunpowder." I could tell the anger in those last sentences were directed towards me. But right now I didn't give a damn.
"Raven!" Bellamy reaches the hatch before me and shouted down.
"Bellamy, wait. Look, I just," I could sense the privacy of the matter and turned around. I heard Jasper walk towards Bellamy and then a slap of leather hitting leather. I really wanted to turn around and see the hug, but I fought against it.
"Long way from "whatever the hell you want"." I laughed quietly as I turned around to see Jasper and Bellamy just looking at each other smiling.
"All gunners! We got movement outside the south wall!" That was Miller.
"Finally, someone listens to me. Come on." I usher the two down the ladder, scaling behind them and jumping down as Bellamy and I took off on a jog towards the south wall.
"Someone's coming!"
"Get ready!"
"Stay together!"
I watched the gunners communicate together and work as a unit. The small teamwork brought a smile to my face as Bellamy and I jogged up to them.
"Wait! Hold your fire! It's Clarke and Finn!" I ran faster.
"Open the gate!" I shouted as I sprinted towards it. The gate barely opening as I barreled through it planning on wrapped Clarke in the largest hug possible.
"Clarke and Finn they're back!" I didn't care as Clarke's momentum slammed into mine and sent a grunt tumbling from both our lips. She wrapped her arms around me squeezing as I let her go and gave her a stern look.
"Where the hell were you!"
"I'll explain in a minute, we heard an explosion. What happened?" She asked looking from me to Bellamy as he made his way up to us.
"Murphy happened." Bellamy said, giving a small glance my way which I didn't return. The anger from before rushing through me once again.
"Thank God!" Jasper gave Clarke a hug. "Where have you been? Where's Monty?"
"Monty's gone?"
"Clarke, we need to leave, now." I turned towards Finn.
"Why?" He looked me in the eyes.
"All of us do. There's an army of grounders, unlike anything we've ever seen, coming for us right now. We need to pack what we can and run." I looked at Bellamy as he looked my way. A matching look, an understanding.
"Like hell we do. We knew this was coming." Bellamy countered. We both were ready to stay and fight for this place.
"Bell, we're not prepared." Octavia countered.
"And they're not here yet." I rencountered her counter.
"We still have time to get ready." Bellamy continued. The two of us working like a clock.
"Besides, where would we go?" I directed at Clarke and Finn expecting them to have some place.
"Where would we be safer than behind these walls?" Bellamy's voice was hoarse but he pushed through.
"There's an ocean to the east, people there will help us." Finn spoke looking from me to Bellamy.
"You saw Lincoln?" Octavia looked excited her worried at the same time.
"You expect us to trust a grounder?" I gave Bellamy a look and a shake of the head.
"This is our home now." I spoke, turning to face the crowd of teens to get away from the subject of Lincoln.
"We built this from nothing with our bare hands! Our dead are buried behind that wall in this ground! Our ground. The grounders think they can take that away. They think that just because we came from the sky, we don't belong here. But they are yet to realize one very important fact: we're on the ground now, and then means we are grounders!" I smirked as the crowd cheered. And one kid yelled out.
"Damn right!" I yelled and pointed at the guy who had yelled that we were grounders with guns.
"I say let 'em come!" Bellamy finished. The two of us turning to look at our other co-leader to see what she had to say.
"Bellamy and Persphyni are right. If we leave, we may never find a place as safe as this. And God knows, in this world, we could be faced with something even worse tomorrow." I eyed Clarke carefully. She was good. Gets it from her mom no doubt. "But that doesn't change the simple fact that if we stay here, we will die tonight. So pack your things." Bellamy and I shared a distraught look. I wouldn't be packing and going with them. And I had a feeling he wouldn't either.
"Just take what you can carry, now." The crowd slowly dispersed, small whispers filled as they went to pack their stuff up.
"Help me!" My eyes snapped to Raven as she leaned against the wall. I was the first one over as I wrapped her arms around me.
"Damnit, Murphy did get you." I hissed as I noticed the blood on her shirt.
"Get her into the dropship." Clarke directed as Finn scoped her up into a bridal carry and raced into the dropship. Clarke hot on their heels.
"Clarke," I stopped her, "leaving here is a big mistake." I warned her. Bellamy and myself standing side by side. The two of us staring down the short blonde.
"The decision's been made."
"Crowds make bad decisions. Just ask Murphy." Bellamy said, as we stood there demanding her to change her mind.
"Leaders do what they think is right." I whispered, looking away from Clarke to Bellamy. Guilt flowed through that sentence and I hated it.
"I am." And with that the blonde walked away. Leaving Bellamy and myself standing in silence.
"Bellamy, I'm sorry. I-" I cut off, rubbing my temples. "Shit. Bellamy I'm sorry that Murphy did that to you. It's my fault. I should have came down sooner. I should have been there sooner. I don't expect you to ever forgiv-" I was cut off by Bellamy.
"Persphyni," I looked up at him, "shut up." My jaw was about to drop as I clenched it shut. His voice husky as he spoke. "I forgive you. If we want to play the blame game it was my fault to-" this time I cut him off.
"You know what. How about we don't play the blame game. Instead let's make sure our people are doing okay."
"I'm not leaving with you." Bellamy spoke as we went to turn away.
"Who said I was leaving?" I turned around a small smile on my face. "Though I may if I'm stuck with your annoying ass." I laughed as he smirked and gave me a small nudge.
"You're obsessed. And you can't deny it. If I were to keep a quarter for every time you said something to do with my ass, I'd have like, a hundred bucks."
"Shut up." I rolled my eyes as I pushed his shoulder away from me. Deciding to play a small game. I let him walk slightly in front of me and allowed my eyes to wander. "It is nice though." I heard him gasp and turn around as I held a straight face.
It didn't last long as I bursted out laughing. The whole scene was just ridiculous. In the middle of a war and here we are laughing and joking. With some eye scoping.
Bellamy was speechless as I backed away from him, still laughing.
"I'm dead-ass serious too!" I called once I had gotten behind a few tents.
His laugh was loud and boomed through camp despite his voice being destroyed. His laugh made me smile as I went to go help Harper and a few of the girls.
Maybe I wouldn't have to leave if all I had was his annoying ass to keep me company. I'd just make him stay on the other side of camp.
