Krishnaa returned home from the palace, a little later than usual. She was exhausted and ready to fall asleep immediately. However, she prepared an early dinner for herself, before eating and retiring to her room.
She took a warm bath and was about to and sleep, when she noticed something in the corner of her room. A pot. A small smile appeared on her face, realizing who kept it here.
She picked up the pot and left her room in search of her dear sakha. She searched her entire house, but he was no where. She frowned. "Bhrata Drishtdyumn?", she called, entering her brother's room. "Bhrata Dhrishtdyumn?"
"Yes Krishnaa", he replied. "I found this in my room. Do you know who kept it there?", she asked. "No. No one even came home. You must have only kept it there and forgotten about it."
She nodded, not knowing how to explain him. She stepped out of her house and began searching around. Where could he be? And what way is this, to meet a friend?
She finally found him in the field near her house. She kept the pot aside and ran towards him, embracing him. He laughed and hugged her back. She was seeing him after months. She felt so happy.
"Kanha!", she exclaimed. "You are here. You are really here." "Of course sakhi. What made you think that I wouldn't come to see you?", he asked. They hugged each other tightly, one more time. "Wait a moment, how did you manage to make it past Indraprasth's gates?", she questioned, coming back to her senses. "I know some tricks, sakhi", he replied mischievously. Krishnaa shook her head. "I don't even want to know." There was a pause.
"You know what, Parth and I are getting married!", she squealed excitedly, jumping around, all of a sudden. Kanha laughed again. "I know, I know. You wrote to me about it. And I came here to meet you". Krishnaa smiled. "I love him so much. And I am so happy. Things are finally changing. And for the better".
Kanha gave her a tight smile, his eyes held a distant look. "Things are definitely changing. But don't assume that it will be according to our wishes." Draupadi looked at him with a frown. "Why?", she questioned. "What's wrong? Is something going to happen?"
Kanha smiled at her again, cheerfully this time before replying. "I never meant it like that, sakhi. What I meant is that don't get carried away. You will never when a storm is approaching. Just don't let your guard down".
Krishnaa narrowed her eyes at him. "I will never understand the meaning behind your words", she complained. "You always talk in riddles". Kanha chuckled at her confusion. "Don't blame me if you don't understand my words, sakhi. I am a simple man. And my words are very straightforward".
Krishnaa looked at him like he just said the most ridiculous thing in the world. "Your words are never straightforward, Kanha. You intentionally twist them". "No, I don't". "Yes, you do", she argued back childishly. After some more back and forth, the two friends burst out laughing.
"Now, enough about me", Krishnaa spoke. "Tell me about yourself. How are things back in Vrindavan?" "Things are great", he replied. "I got married." "Really!", she exclaimed. It was unexpectedly and very surprising. "To whom?"
"Her name is Rukmini", a small smile appeared on Kanha's face, saying her name. "She is a very sweet and caring lady. You will get along well with her". Krishnaa, however didn't smile back. "You didn't invite me to your wedding. You didn't even write to me about it", she felt offended. She thought of him as her best friend, the one to whom she told everything. But he didn't even bother to let her know.
"Don't feel bad sakhi", he pacified her. "I didn't have a big wedding. Our marriage was very spontaneous. We eloped". Krishnaa looked at him. "Well, I would be lying if I say I am surprised. Anyways, where is she? Didn't you bring her along?" "She couldn't come today. But don't worry, you will meet her soon", he replied. "And when exactly will that be?" "Soon", he repeated, his voice was soft.
"Anyways", Krishnaa continued, without giving much thought to Kanha's words. "Since you are here, why don't we go to the palace? You will finally meet Parth. I have been wanting to introduce both of you to each other for a long time". Krishnaa started walking towards the palace, pulling Kanha along with her, but he didn't budge.
"What's wrong?", she asked, noticing the serious look on Kanha's face. "Nothing sakhi. Nothing at all". "Then let's go". "Not now, Krishnaa. I will definitely meet him. But when the time is right." Krishnaa frowned. "A right time for meeting him?", she was unconvinced.
"Yes. The right time. I will meet Parth," he said. "When you both will need me the most", he whispered the latter part of the sentence.
