Krishnaa stood frozen on her spot and held her breath, too afraid to even move a muscle as the hissing and slithering sound grew louder. She tried to guess where the sound was coming from, but the echoes made it difficult. She felt some movement beside her, but when she turned her head, there was nothing.
Her heart beat faster, as she waited, still as a statue, for the creature to do something. Her eyes widened in horror, as a five headed serpent emerged from the darkness. A shiver ran down her spine as the serpent bared it's fangs.
Krishnaa pulled out her knife and gripped the hilt of the dagger till her fingers turned white. The creature lunged at her with it's fangs bared. Krishnaa swiftly leaped on the side, dodging it's attack, her fingers still firmly gripping the dagger.
She barely got time to catch her breath, before the serpent lunged at her again. It's heads were attacking her from all directions and she was having trouble dodging them. At this rate, she shall never move ahead. She would probably be here, dodging it's attacks till she gets exhausted.
She needs to improvise quickly. She needs to think of something. She was clueless as to how to defeat this gigantic beast with a mere dagger. The beast lunged at her again, but this time she was too slow to dodge it. It got hold of her leg in it's fangs and dragged her.
Excruciating pain shot through her leg and she tried not to scream. She didn't know what to do. She had to think of something fast. She stretched her arms, attempting to reach out for something. Anything. Her dagger had been knocked out of her hand.
She felt something hard. A rock. She seized it and held onto it. As the serpent pulled her closer, she threw the rock at it. The beast let out a strange sound, but let go of her. Krishnaa could feel the adrenaline in her, as she stood up immediately, ignoring the pain.
She unstrapped the second dagger, and gripped it tighter, having no desire to lose this one as well. The serpent attempted to attack her again, but this time she was prepared. Just as the serpent lunged at her, she raised the hand and stabbed it with her dagger.
The serpent let out a louder sound, before retreating back into the shadows. Not being able to stand any longer, Krishnaa fell down on the ground. The pain felt ten times worse.
She leaned forward to examine it. There was too much blood for her to actually check the wound. She cleaned the blood with a small piece of cloth and checked again. It was bad. The sight of it made her feel sick. She had no herbs or medicines. If not treated fast, it could get infected.
She looked around, searching for something that could help. There was nothing. A few feet away from her, she spotted the first dagger. She held it in her hands and looked at the torch. An idea struck her. It would be painful, but it was the only way. She would have to cauterize her wound.
She held the dagger over the torch. The metal heating. She took a deep breath and placed the hot metal on her wound.
The pain was worse than anything she had ever felt. It was excruciating. She cupped her mouth to stop her from screaming, as tears of pain streamed down her face. Her breath was uneven and she kept whimpering.
After some time, she removed the dagger from her leg and examined her burnt wound. The bleeding had stopped, but she was in pain. She was tired. She collapsed on the ground, curling up, her arms around herself as she sobbed.

Arjun sat on his swing, staring at the sun set over the horizon. His fingers were fidgeting with a ring. Krishnaa's ring. The one which had slipped into his palm all those months back.
He missed her a lot. He wanted to know how she was doing. 'Will she be alright?' the question bothered him, but he mentally scolded himself. 'She will be alright. She has to be.' But the uneasiness stayed. Not knowing how she was, bothered him. Having no way to find out made it worse.
He didn't have a good feeling about this. Something was bound to go wrong, but what? He stood up and started pacing. He closed his eyes, the feeling of hopelessness settled in him.
'Krishnaa', his heart called out to her. 'Please stay safe.'
