Arjun sat with Krishnaa in his arms. Arjun was stealing glances and noticed Krishnaa admiring the his grandmother's ring. "It is a beautiful ring, isn't it?", Arjun asked.
"Not just beautiful. You trusted me enough to give me your grandmother's last gift to you. I feel honored", she said.
Arjun smiled. That's what he loved about her. She didn't see the beauty of the ring, rather the meaning and emotion behind it.
He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her onto his lap. His finger traced patterns on her back and he felt her shudder. Every touch sent sparks through his body. He had never felt anything like this. He never imagined being in love would feel this good. "I love you", he said, meaning each and every word. "I love you too", Krishnaa responded and kissed the top on his head.
"How did you convince your Mata-Pita?", Krishnaa asked, changing the topic. "Well, Mata was upset with me just disappearing everyday and wanted me to get married so I became more responsible. She wanted me to marry Ragini, Kashi's Rajkumari. So, I had no choice but to tell her the truth."
"So you just told her?" Arjun shook his head. "I put forth a condition that I will marry her only of I marry you first-" "So you will marry her as well?", Krishnaa sounded hurt. Arjun was about to reply but stopped himself. He mentally smirked and decided to trouble her a bit for scaring him before.
He made the happiest expression possible. "Yes. I met her yesterday," he said in a dreamy tone. "You know, she is so beautiful. So intelligent and talented. Yesterday, she solved a complicated court matter within minutes. When you meet her, you will see. Mata already loves her like a daughter.................", he saw Krishnaa's bottom lip tremble and her eyes were moist. She angrily unwrapped his arms from around her torso, got up from his lap and started to walk away. But Arjun stood up and caught her hand in time, stopping her.
"Leave me. And go back to your previous and beloved Rajkumari. Go and shower her with all your love and admiration", She said, fuming. Arjun controlled his laughter. "Hm. I will shower my love and admiration. But not on a Rajkumari. Instead on a Yurani", he pulled her back into his arms and buried his head in the crook of her neck. "On you".
Krishnaa looked at him. "What do you mean?" Arjun smiled at her. "What I mean is that Mata has accepted my marriage. To you and only you. No one will come between us."
"Really?!", she asked excitedly. Arjun nodded. He saw joy and delight in her eyes which was instantly replaced by anger and annoyance. "Then why did you scare me?", she questioned in an authoritative way. 'Oh', Arjun thought. 'So she is already talking like a Yurani'.
"Well, you scared me earlier. And I scared you now. We are equal." Krishnaa smacked his shoulder. "That hurts", he whined, dramatically. Krishnaa rolled her eyes. Her arms then went around his neck in a possessive manner.
"Mine. Only mine ", she kept repeating. Arjun smiled. It's true. He is hers and can never be anyone else's.
"By the way", he started. "Mata has invited you and Drisht to Indraprasth this evening. She is eager to meet you. Be ready on time, I will send a chariot to get you two to the palace. " Krishnaa bit her lip nervously. "This evening. But I don't have anything suitable to wear to the palace. And what if she doesn't like me? What if I upset her? She wanted you to marry a rajkumari and I am not..........."
Arjun silenced her with a kiss. "She will love you, trust me. And also, wear the jewelry that I had bought for you that day". Arjun remembered that day. They way sat on the lone hill, overlooking Indraprasth. The way he adorned her with all the jewelry, as if she is an idol of a goddess. He way he looked at her, as though she was the most precious thing in the world. And she is, for him. He couldn't help but blush and noticed Krishnaa blushing as well.
She placed her head on his lap, closing her eyes . He ran his fingers through her silky hair and felt her calm down instantly.
