"Good morning family!" Aleesha yelled coming into the kitchen to find nearly everyone having breakfast
"Morning Mrs Camacho" Richard smiled
"Mmh, say that again it sounds heavenly" Aleesha said closing her eyes
"Good morning Mrs Aleesha Camacho" Richard said again
"Okay, this is starting to feel uncomfortable" Aaliyah pointed out
"Don't worry you'll be Mrs Aaliyah De Jesús very soon" Zabdiel smiled
"And you, Mrs Kat Veléz Muñoz" Christopher added
"And- oh wait my fiancé is hung over" Erick deadpanned
"I wanna say sorry but she brought it upon herself" Aleesha shrugged stacking a couple pancakes "i told her wine drunk was a different ball game"
"So next time you receive mail will it say camacho?" Richard asked sifting through the pile of mail
"Yeah" Aleesha giggled "hey this ones for Ray and this ones for Aaliyah"

Aleesha handed Aaliyah her envelope which he ripped open. Aaliyah skim read through it before starting to mumble small "no"s as she read it more carefully

"What's wrong amor?" Zabdiel asked
"They want me to come testify at Dante's trial" Aaliyah whispered running her fingers through her hair
"You don't have to do you?" Zabdiel asked more seriously
"If i don't he'll be a free man and then he'll find me again and this time he won't just hurt me Zabdiel" Aaliyah sighed
"Okay we beef up security, make sure you're never alone" Christopher tried
"You think an alarm system and a beefy guy will stop Dante? he grew up in the bad parts of LA" Aaliyah said "it's fine, i'll go testify"
"No" Zabdiel said
"Okay dad, your child isn't born yet" Aaliyah said looking at Zabdiel
"I'm serious Aaliyah" Zabdiel said
"Okay look at it like this, if she testifies she can finally be free of him for a long long time and your baby boy will never have to worry about this threat" Richard levelled
"Fine, but i go with you"  Zabdiel said
"Fine dad" Aaliyah teased "I need someone to massage my feet anyways"
"Oh is that all i am to you?" Zabdiel said with mock sadness
"Lie to spare his feelings" Kat laughed

Ray came into the kitchen dragging her feet, the hangover she was experiencing was not one that could be described by any words as she finally sat down and put her head down on the table.

"How you feeling baby?" Erick asked with a slight laugh
"Like Satan shat on me" Ray groaned "like he shat piping hot fury on me"
"Maybe you should stop sinning" Kat smiled
"I mean they already had sex outside of marriage, she swears like a sailor, the doors of heaven are welded shut for you" Zabdiel listed with a smirk
"You had a whole child out of wedlock so you sir can eat my ass" Ray said giving Zabdiel the middle finger
"Ew, that's Erick's job" Aaliyah gagged
"That's what you get" Aleesha laughed "here's something from the mail for you"

Ray opened the envelope carelessly, grabbing the letter out and trying to focus her eyes enough to read the first paragraph. What she read was enough to sober her up fast as she jumped to her feet

"They accepted me" she whispered
"They?" Aaliyah asked
"New York accepted me!" Ray yelled jumping up and down
"What! Girl i'm so happy for you!" aleesha said jumping up and down with her
"When are you starting?" Kat asked
"Uhm in.... in 2 weeks time" Ray said making everyone go silent

The sound of a chair scraping against the floor rang through the quiet kitchen followed by Erick's footsteps going up the stairs. Ray sighed throwing the letter on the kitchen table and running her hands through her hair

"Erick" Ray yelled moving to follow him
"Let him calm down" Christopher advised pulling her back
"I'm sure he's just shocked that you're leaving so soon" Aaliyah tried
"Right? i mean i sure am" Aleesha tried
"He's going to miss your cuddles" Richard added
"and your kisses" Christopher said
"It's fine guys, you can stop" Ray shrugged sitting down

The rest of the morning Ray said nothing before she decided to go upstairs to shower. She was met by Erick sitting on the bed looking up at the ceiling with a blank unreadable expression, next to him on the bed was the gift Ray had received from Yashua back in the Dominican republic during their vacation

"Where did you get these from?" Erick asked
"Erick-
"I asked you a question and i expect an answer" Erick said
"Now how am i supposed to answer when you keep interrupting me" Ray said rolling her eyes
"Now isn't the time to be a smart ass" Erick said finally looking her dead in the eye
"There's always time to be a smart-
"Dammit Ray answer my fucking question!" Erick yelled

He had a look Ray hadn't seen before, it seemed like he was angry but something much darker and it ran chills up Ray's spine and actually left her scared.

"You see, i wondered why you jumped at the opportunity to go to New York so quickly and i couldn't find a reason except that Yashua lives there" Erick stated
"Oh my God Erick not everything is behind Yashua! i applied to that hospital before i even met Yashua!" Ray yelled "You know what i'm done fighting over New York with you"
"Go go ahead and run to Yashua" Erick said blandly
"At least he supports me" Ray spat before grabbing her towel and going to shower

Zabdiel grabbed Aaliyah's bag, putting it in the back seat before putting himself in the driver seat. He pulled out of the drive way and drove all the way to Aaliyah's doctors office. Holding Aaliyah's hand he helped her up the stairs

"Zabdiel i'm pregnant not paralysed" Aaliyah said going up the stairs slowly
"You're carrying precious cargo amor" Zabdiel said watching her every step
"Watching my every step doesn't exactly help with anything now does it because you'll trip up yourself and take me down with" Aaliyah explained
"I won't!" Zabdiel complained
"Yes you will and i'll be left like a turtle on its back!" Aaliyah said snatching her hand away

They were greeted by the doctor at the top of the stairs, holding a clipboard
"i know an over protective father when i hear one" She smiled at them "Girl?"
"Boy" Aaliyah answered
"Then he'll have a strong father figure to look up to" She smiled
"I'm about to yeet him off these stairs so i don't think so" Aaliyah sighed holding her back
"I am hurt amor" Zabdiel said holding a hand to his chest
"And i don't care" Aaliyah smiled
"Let's get you on the examiners bed" the doctor laughed

She got Aaliyah strapped, warning her of the coldness of the liquid she would put on her womb which she took a sharp breath to. She ran the machine over her stomach a couple times before stopping and doing it a bit slower

"This is your baby boy, he's very healthy, everything looks good if you want to hear the heart beat?" She asked
"Please" Zabdiel whispered

She turned a couple knobs on the machine before an almost inaudible "thump thump" rang through the silent room. Aaliyah brought a hand to her mouth as tears ran down her face, Zabdiel gripped her other hand giving her hand a squeeze

"That- thats him?" Zabdiel asked in disbelief
"Yup, strong little heart beat" The doctor said with a smile "everything is going well, i should expect you for your next appointment in 2 months don't be shy to come in if you feel funny or call about anything"
"Thank you so much doctor" Zabdiel said shaking her hand

She handed Aaliyah a towel for her stomach before giving her the ultrasound pictures which Zabdiel marvelled at
"Thank you" Zabdiel said giving her a kiss
"For what again?" Aaliyah mocked
"For giving me such a beautiful gift" Zabdiel said
"Pleasure is all mine partner" Aaliyah whispered lovingly
