Katniss POV-
Peeta Mellark is my rock and he is my missing piece.
I look back on it all and remember those confusing feelings I had almost years ago.
I felt empty.
That is, until I met Peeta.
He is my best friend.
Most people would've had enough of me by now, but only someone equally as crazy as I am, would take me on.
That person is obviously Peeta.
We were made for each other.
What we have is fate.
We're like magnets or better yet, opposites.
Yeah, opposites is a good word.
Opposites attract.
We always find our way back to each other and it's been like that since we met.
We don't give up, though, we've come close and we've promised, we've promised a lot of things.
True love always has a habit of coming back.
If a person keeps coming back to you and you love each other enough to keep forgiving past mistakes, maybe you were really meant for each other?
Maybe.
As Peeta finally opens his eyes, though mine have been watching him for awhile, my breath is taken away.
The deepest blue you'd ever see lies within his eyes.
"Katniss." Peeta whispers so softly and buries his face into my neck and hair.
I hug him close.
His hands wrap around my waist and I press my lips against his shoulder and allow my lips relax against his warm skin.
I close my eyes, breathing in his sweet scent that I've missed so dearly.
We lay there for minutes in each other's embraces, not saying a word but speaking through warmth and touch because there are some people in your life that could hear you speak a billion words and will still not understand you. But there's others who will understand you without speaking a word.
That person is Peeta.
He eventually takes his head out of the crook of my neck and looks into my eyes, speaking for only the second time since I've been home.
"I've missed you so much." He whispers softly pulling me closer to him, even with his bad hand, he doesn't show any sign of pain. But it's true, that we numb each other's pain.
I smile softly, as I again, feel like crying.
"I missed you too." I say so softly, I'm not sure I even said it.
Peeta just stares into my eyes and I stare into his.
It's not awkward and it's not a glare, just a comfortable gaze.
Eventually, Peeta cracks a little grin, making me smile like a madman.
"I love you. Please, don't ever leave me again." Peeta whispers, holding me tighter.
