Dallas and I waited under a street light for Johnny and Pony to arrive.
"Are you sure?" I asked, "It's early and the movie won't start for hours."
"I'm sure." He said, taking out another cigar, "I have some fun planned, I'm sure Pony and Johnny wouldn't wanna miss it."
Right after he said that, Johnny and Pony came walking down the street.
"So, what are we gonna do?" Pony asked.
"Nothing legal, that's for sure." He said with a smile, "You okay with that, Y/N?"
"Sure, why not." I shrugged, "I need some adventure in my life time to time."
"Alright, let's go!" Dallas said with a smirk as he coolly walked down the sidewalk.
We did many things to pass the time, many things that I'd thought I would never do. Come to think of it, none of it was legal. It made Dallas so happy. It was quite fun, actually. I was taught more ways to have fun in this neighborhood thanks to the dynamic greaser trio.
We were watching some guy and greaser fighting until they pulled out switchblades. The cops came shortly afterwards and we took off running, it might've been my favorite moment because it was exciting.
The hours had suddenly swept by so quickly that it only felt like one. We had reached the Drive-in and cars were parked tightly and people gathered around the seating area, most of them were teenagers looking out for fun more than watching a cheesy movie.
I thought we were going to the front when Dallas told me to follow him. He lead us to a fence that guarded the area and there was a hole on the side.
Dallas gave me grin as he crawled inside.
"Sneaky fox." I muttered and chuckled.
"What can I say, I'm Dallas Winston." He laughed heartily.
We made our way into a row of seats and sat down, no one noticed us sneaking in.
Johnny left to go get a coke.
In front of us were these two beautiful Soc girls. The one with red hair crossed her arms and watching the movie with irritation. The other with black hair just sat and watched with nothing wrong.
"Hey, guys." Dallas whispered to us, "Watch."
Pony looked at him with concern, he knew what he was going to do.
He propped his legs on top of the red head girl's chair and purposely pushed and kicked it a bit. He talked loudly to us about her.
She turned her head around and eyed Dallas angrily.
"Get your feet off my chair and shut your trap!" She snapped.
"My my, so scary." He chuckled, "Hey, is that rag on top of your head real? And is it the same color as your eyebrows?"
She scoffed and scooted up a bit. The other girl watched the scene and glanced at Dallas from time to time, not friendly but irritated.
"Hey, I've seen you two around rodeos." Dallas pointed.
"A shame you can't ride bull half as good as you can talk it." She said coolly.
In unison, Pony and I widened our eyes a bit. Dallas looked at her differently and gave her a smirk.
"No need to get so fiery with me." He said.
She heavily sighed and looked straight ahead.
"If you don't leave us alone, I'll call the police." She said in a low tone.
"Dallas!" I slightly hissed at him while grabbing his hand.
But he didn't notice and didn't bother to stop.
"Oh, my." He said sarcastically with a smirk, "You've gotten me scared to death. Hah, you should see my record and what I was in for sometime."
"Please." She grumbled, "Just be nice and leave us alone?"
"Me? Nah, I'm never nice. Want a coke on me?"
She spun around with raging anger and looked at Dallas in the eye.
"Get lost, hood!" She snapped.
"Eh." Dallas shrugged. He stood up and walked to go get some drinks and food.
After a few minutes, she spun around and looked at Pony and me.
"Are you gonna start on us, too?" She demanded an answer.
"No." Pony blurted out.
I shook my head.
Her mood changed instantly and she smiled.
"Good." She said, "You guys don't look like the type anyway."
Pony introduced himself to her, I didn't really hear that much because I was watching the movie over the loud talking and gangs.
Then I heard her name was Sherri Valance. She said she was called Cherry. The name clicked and I realized we had a class together, she sat in front of me.
"What's your name?" She asked me.
"Oh, Y/N." I responded, "I know you from school. We have a class together and you sit in front of me."
She thought for a moment then smiled.
"Oh!" She exclaimed, "I remember! I'm sorry I didn't recognize you."
"It's alright."
"Now what are you two nice people doing hanging around with that trash?" Cherry referred to Dallas.
"He's my friend." Pony said in a stern tone, "And we all hang out together."
"Dallas is my boyfriend." I peeped.
"Oh." She said, "I'm sorry, I didn't know. Say, that's why I never see Dallas with that Sylvia girl or whatever, Dallas seems happy around you."
I smiled at her and nodded.
"I never knew you came to places like this." I said.
"Well, yeah I do. I usually come with my boyfriend, Bob."
My eyes widened. She continued.
"But, he was drinking himself stupid again and I just hate it when he does that. He's probably passed out on the street by now. He drinks even more now and it changes him, even after he showed up with that big bruise on his head."
"Uh...Cherry." I stammered out.
"Yes?"
Right when I was going to explain what happened with him and me, Dallas came back along with Johnny.
Johnny had a coke in hand and managed to wave to the girls through his shyness. Since he and Dallas were back, I shut myself up.
Dallas passed around the cokes and popcorn to all of us, even the girls.
"This ought to cool you off." Dallas handed Cherry a coke.
Dallas then pulled me in on his lap and I rested on him while he hugged me.
Cherry let out a scowl and stood up, she quickly threw the coke at him without getting a second look. Only, my face was in the way.
"That might c-OH NO!" She was about to yell back but then realized what she did.
The coke cup had hit me hard at my face and exploded all over me. It soaked my hair and clothes.
I coughed and choked a bit on some.
"Woah!" Dallas looked at me, "That was meant for me, wasn't it."
"Of course it was!" Cherry stomped her way over, "You're the only one here who'd deserve it! I'm so sorry, Y/N! I didn't notice that you were sitting on his lap."
"I'm okay." I giggled, "It's just coke."
"No, this is my fault." She said, "Come, let's get some tissues and clean you up."
Cherry helped me up and we both walked to the concession. She got as many tosses from the counter as she could and helped cleaning up, especially my hair.
"I'm so sorry." She apologized again.
"No, you're fine, Cherry." I denied.
"Dallas just kept fueling me up. I guess I finally exploded."
"Like a cherry bomb?" I smirked.
She laughed at my ever so cheesy pun.
"Now," She said to me, "Before we were so rudely interrupted, you were about to tell me something earlier."
"Oh." I said, feeling the smile drain from my face, "Can we talk over there? It's more private."
"Uh, okay sure." Her voice turned serious after she noticed my change in mood.
"The night before Bob got that bruise," I started to explain, "I was with him when it happened."
She nodded and listened in more.
"We had just became friends in school and he asked me if I wanted to go to the movies. But, I was dating Dallas and he didn't want me to go because he was jealous and protective. I didn't listen and went on ahead. Then, he started drinking and became a whole new different person. He was suddenly evil. Then..."
I took a deep breath.
"He tried to rape me." I said in a whisper, feeling a lump in a my throat.
Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped.
"He did horrible things." I continued, "Then Dallas came in to save me. Bob tried to pick a fight but Dallas knocked him out."
She still stood there in shock.
I waited for her to say something while I hung my head down.
Then she walked closer then hugged me. After a few seconds, I hugged her back.
"Y/N, I'm sorry." She said sympathetically, "About Bob. H-He's not a bad person when he's sober, but the alcohol completely changes him. I never thought he would do something like that, it's just so...so...,"
By now we were both starting to cry.
She pulled away from the hug and gripped onto my shoulders.
She furrowed her eyebrows with anger but her eyes still looked sad.
"I swear." She said under her breath, "I'm leaving Bob forever. I can't believe he would do that."
That wasn't all.
I told her about how he was the one who jumped Johnny. By now she was pacing back and forth with anger and sadness.
"I'm sorry I told you about this, it's all so sudden." I said softly.
"Don't say that." She said, "I'm glad you told me. We'll both have a nice talk and I'll leave that bastard!"
I slightly nodded and gave her a tissue. We both wiped our tears and put on our normal faces.
"We best get back now." She said, "They might think we ditched them."
"Yeah." I agreed.
We came back to find Two-Bit there talking with Marcia. Cherry quickly made her way back to her seat and sat quietly, only watching the movie. Dallas looked back and stood up.
"What took you ladies so long?" He asked, "Girl stuff?"
"Uh...yeah, Dal." I said.
He quickly noticed my change in mood and his sly smirk faded.
"Hey, I know that look." He said as he cupped my cheek, "What's wrong?"
"I'm fine." I lied, "Just tired, I kinda wanna go back to your place now."
"Okay." He nodded, "I'm feeling a bit tired myself. I even have a fight with Shepherd tomorrow so I should get some sleep."
Dallas wrapped his arm around me and we began walking back.
"Where you guys goin?" Two asked, his voice a bit slurred from alcohol.
Johnny and Pony also looked back at us.
"Going back to Buck's." Dallas responded, "See you guys tomorrow."
They waved goodbye then went back to their conversations. We walked all the way back to his place in complete silence, only being able to hear chirping bugs and gangs in the distance.
