This year, Elestra was unfortunately, not a prefect anymore. Umbridge had taken away her badge and the next best person, (Hermione Granger) was now the new prefect. All though she was quite upset, she didn't mind it. Being a prefect was sort of boring anyway. As she sat in the compartment with Nicole, like always, she saw a familiar face pass the hallway. She got up and slid open the door.

"Harry!" she called out, making the boy turn. "You wanna sit with us?" Harry hesitated for a moment but then nodded. Elestra had been good friends with Harry. They were usually paired up together in assignments and things. Since Hermione and Ron were on prefect duty, Harry was alone so Elestra asked the boy to join them.

He put his bag on the over head compartment and sat down. He was glad he found a place to sit. Everyone kept staring at him because they all thought he was 'the chosen one' He was so desperately hoping Elestra and Nicole didn't approach him because of that. Luckily, instead of asking him about it, they continued their talk on quidditch and other things. Once or twice, they'd bring up muggle politics or muggle news. Harry didn't mind joining in, he usually heard Uncle Vernon rant about it to his wife- which kept him filled in. It was nice to talk to someone about muggle things other than Hermione.

And then the topic of Slytherin came up. Harry thought of his suspicion of Malfoy being a death eater and realised Elestra and Draco were pretty good friends. Perhaps, he could get something out of her.

"Hey, so you and uh Draco, are you guys close?" Harry asked, trying not to seem weird.

"Yeah, I mean, I guess he isn't as bad as you think." Elestra said, confused at why he asked.

He suddenly exclaimed, "You know he's dangerous. His father-" Harry stopped himself.

"I know, but he isn't like that, Harry. He is nice...plus, he cares-" Elestra looked down at the ground, blood rushing to her face.

"No you don't understand, I saw him at Knockturn alley- he was doing something suspicious!" Harry was exasperated. Nobody believed him. Not Hermione, not Ron, not even Mr Weasley.

"What are you implying?" Nicole said somewhat interested.

Harry looked around and leaned in, "I think he, like his father might be," he looked around once again to check if anyone was listening. "...A death eater." he whispered. And to his surprise, Elestra laughed.

"Have you gone mad? He's only 16, Harry! There's no way!" She couldn't believe it. Draco could NEVER be a death eater. He may seem tough or mean on the outside but he was such a sweet guy. He had changed. Over the last year, he was so much kinder to Elestra, she even thought she might've actually begun to like him.

"Nobody believes me..." Harry muttered with a hopeless look in his eye.

Nicole noticed this and felt sympathetic, "Maybe you're being bias, you've hated him for a really long time and maybe you're just projecting that." Harry nodded.

"But don't you worry, chosen one, if you see anything sus, you can tell us!" Elestra joked, patting him on the back, earning a chuckle from Potter.

And yet Elestra couldn't help but think about what Harry said. Maybe he isn't mistaken? It would make sense... but there was no way... right?

~~~~~~
When they arrived, Elestra stretch her arms high, it was quite a long train ride after all. Harry had to go 'do something' and Elestra and Nicole got off before him. When Elestra stepped on the platform she looked around. Maybe she was hoping to see a familiar face. She caught a glimpse of Pansy and Blaise but no Draco. She sighed and continued to be on her way. Maybe they'd talk later on.
As they entered, they realised that Hogwarts had taken extreme safety precautions, checking through bags and everything. Nobody was allowed to leave school grounds and many different shielding charms had been put to work.
At the baggage collect, Elestra had got on her tiptoes to perhaps see him again. It had been around a month, and all though she'd hate to admit it, she missed him.
"Looking for someone?" Nicole sneakily asked, startling Elestra a bit.
"N-NO?! What are you talking about..?" Her eyes darted to the ground, not wanting to make eye-contact.
"Don't worry, you'll see him soon enough," Nicole assured her, ruffling her hair in a big-brotherly fashion.
Just as they were about to enter the Great hall, she finally saw a platinum blonde head, far off near her right. Her face lit up with excitement. Draco glanced up and caught eyes with Elestra. She waved joyfully. Draco's eyes flickered with dismay and he averted them. Her heart sank. She dropped her arm and glanced around embarrassed, it seems as if nobody saw her get rejected. Maybe he just didn't see her. She tried to convince herself it was just a mistake and went on her way, it's alright, she can talk to him later...
Throughout the feast, Elestra would sneak glances at Draco and would sometimes even catch him staring. But every time, he'd just look away and pretend like nothing had happened. Like nobody was there.
