Elestra walked out of Umbridge's office with blood dripping from her arm. She covered her arm with her sleeve, which burnt a lot, but she was not going to let anyone see what had happened. That would just make her look weak- plus, she had to go warn her brother. While she was walking through an empty hallway, she clenched her arm close to her chest. It stung so much, small tears started to come out of her eyes. The blood seemed to be seeping through her white shirt now. That's when she saw Draco and turned straight around because she didn't want to talk to him when she was in crumbling pain.
"Elestra!" he called when he saw her and rushed towards her. She rolled her eyes and looked back.
"What do you want?" She says coldly.
"Look. I don't even know why you're mad me! I didn't kno-" Draco paused for a moment and glanced at Elestra's arm. "Woah. Are you okay?!" He seemed concerned.
"Y-yeah. I'm completely fine! Leave me alone!" She tried to hide her arm, but winced as her shirt rubbed against the cut.
"See? You're not completely fine." Draco murmured as he grabbed her elbow and gently pulled it towards him. He slowly lifted the sleeve of her shirt, which was sticking to her skin, drenched with warm red blood. "My...how did this happen?"
Elestra looked away. She didn't want to answer him then. Elestra thought if she would talk, she would start sobbing hysterically. Draco was curious but decided he'd save the questions for later.
"It's okay. Let's go wash it first," Draco said as he guided her to the nearest bathroom. They reached a sink outside the boys restroom and Elestra rolled up her sleeve and slowly put it under the tap. She flinched as the water stung the wound. "Hey, it's okay, let me help.." He got some paper towels and dried around the wound, making sure she's okay. Draco then went to the hospital wing to get some bandages, Mrs Pomfrey hated the new punishment system and would secretly provide hurt students with supplies.
While Draco went Elestra looked at her arm. She thought about how stupid she felt telling Umbridge about her brother but it wasn't like she could do anything. Umbridge hated her and it was clear she'd do anything to get her in trouble. Maybe part of the reason the cruel professor showed a great disliking towards Elestra was because she'd always give her a passive aggressive attitude which seemed to frustrate Umbridge. But Elestra couldn't help herself. She was stubborn and loved to make Umbridge mad for some reason.
When she left her thoughts she realised there were tears in her eyes. Maybe it was because of the brutal stinging in her arm or maybe it was because of how much of a failure she felt. She had accidentally snitched on her brother, got a 4 inch scar on her arm and now the biggest jerk in the school was helping her. She even failed staying mad at him! She wiped her eyes and tried to calm her mixed emotions before Malfoy came back- it was already enough he probably saw her as a loser who gets herself in random trouble.
Draco came back and took Elestra's arm in his hands. He gently wrapped the wound with the bandages. "You've got to learn to take better care of yourself," He mumbled.
"I had it under control, I don't need your help!" she spat salty, as he finished with the bandages.
"It's okay to ask for help sometimes, you know? Especially when you need it." Draco said softly.
"Why do you care anyway?" Elestra crossed her arms and looked up at him.
"Are you mad at me?"
"Of course I'm mad, it's your fault we have to do detention!" she turned her head, spitefully.
"Well, you were technically breaking the rules- you had to see it coming!" He tried to justify his actions.
"Are you kidding? How are we supposed to save ourselves from you know who," Even if she really wanted to, she refused to forgive him.
"Come on, Elestra, that was four weeks ago! Give it up already... you can't stay mad forever!"
Elestra stayed stubborn.
Draco sighed, "I'm sorry, okay?"
Elestra's ears perked. She turned around and nodded, "...and why are you sorry?"
Draco smiled, relieved, "I'm sorry for getting you and your friends caught. And I won't do it again. I promise,"
Elestra grinned, "Good. One more thing... you'll just have to help me with my potions assignment,"
"At your service!" Draco said, taking a playful bow.
She giggled, "Let's go get lunch, we might be late!"
