Freya's POV
"You hear me Hale? 5 minutes and not a second more. If anyone finds out about this we are all dead." Prudence warns as she brings me down into the depths of the Academy's dungeon. "Thank you again Prudence. I don't think you know how much this means to me." I tell her. She stops in her tracks and turns to face me. She pulls me in for a stiff and awkward hug. Not the most comforting thing, but the closest you can get with Prudence.
She lets go and smooths down my hair one last time before reaching for the lock to the witches cell. "4 minutes and 59 seconds." She says as she throws the door open. I nod before creeping into the cell. It's dark and damp. It's eerily quiet. The kind of quiet that makes your head hurt.
"Ambrose?" I whisper. It's so dark that it's hard to see. I stumble a few feet forward before I see him. Ambrose Spellman is shirtless, curled up in a ball on the floor of the cell. My heart instantly shatters for him. "Ambrose!" I say louder as I rush up to him. I'm a few inches away when he springs up and takes a swing at me. It barely misses my face.
"Get back demon!" He yells and he pulls his fist back once again. "Ambrose?" I ask confused as I dodge another swing. "You even sound like her." He snarls. "Baby it's me!" I yell as I'm backed up against a wall. "Can't be." He says getting closer. The look in his eyes terrify me.
"It is. I promise. Ambrose please." I whimper as he gets inches away from my face. "Liar!" He yells. "Ambrose! You told me you loved me on the front porch of the Spellman house. The night of the Greendale 13. Your favorite book is Catcher in the Rye. You like it when your tea is just a tad bit too hot." I say as fast as I can.
"Anyone could know that." He says. "You like it when I run you hot baths with extra lavender oil. You spent the solstice with my family." I quickly hold up my hand. "You gave me this ring for protection. You told me that it had been in your side of the family for millennia. I went to put it on my left ring finger but you told me not to because you said that finger would get another ring someday." I say frantically. He gets extremely close to me and searches my eyes.
"I love you Ambrose Spellman. When I told you that I would spend every minute of forever with you. I meant it." I say as a tear rolls down my eyes. "Praise Satan. It is you." He says as tears fall from his eyes too. He pulls me to his chest and takes a fistful of my hair, making sure that I don't go anywhere. "You're really here." He whispers.
"Of course I am. You couldn't keep me away that easily." I joke. His knees crumple and we end up kneeling on the floor in each other's arms. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you. I just- they've been torturing me. I feel as if they are trying to make me confess. I see images of you, the Aunties, and even Sabrina. And you all hate me. You all want me to die-" "If you die then I'm coming right behind you." I tell him.
"Freya please don't say that. I can't even think about anything bad happening to you right now." He whispers. "I love you so much." I tell him. "I love you too." I whisper. I pull away from his grip and gently grab his face in my hands, bringing him to me for a long overdue kiss. He kisses back instantly and his hands grip my waist so tightly that there will probably be bruises.
"Freya?" He asks when I pull back and stand up. I start pacing around the cell and looking for any cracks or holes or anything like that. "It's no use." He says sadly. "No. There has to be a way out." I say as I get down on my hands and knees. Searching for something. Anything.
"Freya... please. Just come here." Ambrose asks. I quietly oblige and make my way back to him. He sits on the floor and pulls me into his lap. Holding me there. "The only way out is through that door." He says sadly. "The only light of freedom comes from the keyhole." He says. This makes me perk up.
"Keyhole?" I ask. He nods sadly. I'm about to tell him my new plan when the door is pulled open. The weird sisters look down at us with sad faces. "Time's up." Prudence says with no emotion. "No." Ambrose cries. His grip on me gets even tighter. Prudence just looks at me. I turn myself in his grip and look him in the eye.
"Ambrose. You need to let go? okay?" I tell him. He shakes his head and the weird sisters start to come in. "Look at me. Everything is going to be okay." I tell him. "No!" He cries out louder this time. Tears well up in my eyes. I hate seeing him like this. Agatha and Dorcas take his arms and start pulling him off of me.
"I love you so much. But I have to go." I tell him as I start to cry. "Freya. Don't go. Please don't leave me." He says as he starts to cry too. Prudence takes my elbow and helps me up. I break free from her grasp and run up to Ambrose. I give him one last, salty kiss before Prudence grabs me once again.
"I love you. Everything is going to be okay." I say as the weird sisters escort me out of the cell. "I love you too Freya!" He calls as the door is closed and locked once again. I just stare at the door and put my hand up against it.
"Freya-" "No. Dorcas. I'm okay." I say cutting her off. "I can bring you a blanket. If you wish to stay out here?" Prudence asks. I quickly wipe my eyes and turn to face them. "No. I need to go home. Now." I tell them. The sisters nod and lower their heads as I walk by them. Up the stairs. Out of the Academy. Into the woods. And back to the Spellman house.
"Auntie Hilda? Sabrina?" I call into the house. They come around the corner from the kitchen and give me a confused look. "I have a brilliant plan that just might work." I tell them with a wicked smile.
