Freya's POV
"First my summoning is a bust...." Ambrose says. "And now Nick seems worse." Sabrina groans as we stand around Nick who is still chained to the floor. It's true. He looks fucking terrible. We've tried everything, including leeches, and somehow he's still in the same state as when we found him. Yet, I still don't feel sorry for him.
"Did the leeches even work?" Sabrina huffs. "Well shit. Come and have a look." Ambrose says. Sabrina and I walk around Nick to the little medical cart Ambrose is standing next to. "What?" I ask. Not really wanting to know the answer. I look down at the bucket of leeches and almost vomit.
"They're all dead. Killed by whatever they absorbed from Nicholas." Ambrose says with a sigh. "What could they possibly have absorbed?" Sabrina asks. Ambrose reaches into the bucket and scoops up one of the dead leeches. Remind me not to hold his hand until I know he's washed them. He places it on the table and grabs a scalpel, slicing it open. Black sludge comes pouring out and I have to step back and cover my nose due to its awful stench.
"What the heaven is that?" I ask in utter disgust. "We're about to find out." Ambrose says as he whips around to reach for a napkin to wrap the leech and its sludge in. When he turns around he just barely misses my face with it which makes me gag. The three of us leave Nick and make our way down to the library. Honestly, I'm here so much it's almost a second home for me.
"Alright, Frey, love, I need you to go over two rows and grab me any book you see on magic residue." I nod and half jog my way over to the shelves and begin searching. "Cousin, start the fire and start a protection circle. What ever this is, it's clearly dangerous, the last thing I need is for something to happen to either of you." Ambrose instructs.
I half smile as I skim through some of the titles, grabbing some at random, hoping they will have what we are looking for. Turns out magical residue is quite a broad category. Books on ectoplasm, demonic residue, certain charms, and even sex magic. Ew.
Actually..... I take a few steps back and grab the book on sex magic. Not for right now, but just to skim for myself. Just because, hey, you never know I guess.
"Circle is done." Sabrina says as I walk back towards them. "And here's some books to start with." I huff as I slam the heavy books down onto a nearby table. Ambrose is half bent over a table looking at a microscope. Wow, guess they do have everything down here. Maybe we should just move in here after all. Every fiber of my being is telling me to smack Ambrose's ass, but I have to remind myself. Time and place.
"Could you hand me that one?" Ambrose asks looking up. I shake away some of my lingering thoughts and slide him the book he's pointing to. He flips through the pages before stopping and nodding. "I was right."
"Radicum outum diaboli." He reads from the book. "I don't know what that means but I'm not liking the sound of diaboli." I say leaning against the table. "It means Satan's residue." He says. Sabrina stiffens at the sound of this and makes her way around the table to get a look for herself.
"Wait, what do you mean?" She asks. "A little gift your father left behind in poor Nicholas. It's part of him. Like tar in a smoker's lungs, except this tar is alive, infernal, and corrupting." Ambrose explains. Ew. I can't even imagine what that must feel like.
"Nick said he could still feel the Dark Lord inside him." Sabrina says. "Uh, when did he say that?" "I didn't think he meant literally." Sabrina continues, ignoring my question. "We need to get what's left of Lucifer out of Nicholas." Ambrose concludes.
"Are you talking another exorcism? I don't think I can handle another one of those right now." I say with a sigh. "There might be another way. What if instead of forcing the reside out of Nicholas, we lure it out. Entice it with something stronger. A host with blood identical to it." Ambrose says eyeing Sabrina.
"You mean me." Sabrina says with an unhappy face. After thinking it over, she nods. "Great. i'll grab the holy water and meet you two back upstairs." Ambrose says clapping his hands together. We keep holy water here? Isn't that kinda wrong.
"We will need a bucket of some kind." Ambrose explains as he disappears into the library. I begin looking around the library when I turn and see a certain unholy regalia sitting on the table.
"How about a bowl?" I offer. Ambrose reappears from somewhere within the library. His eyes and on Pontius Pilate's bowl. "I suppose that would work." He says with a wicked smile.

Freya's POV
"This holy water will neutralize the residue." Ambrose says as he fills the bowl with holy water before joining Sabrina and I in front of Nick. "If this works, if your blood coaxes the Dark Lord's essence out of Nick's body, you'll need to keep your fists closed tightly. Or else the residue will enter your blood stream." Ambrose warns.
"Ready." Sabrina says after a few deep breaths. I hand her a small dagger and prep the bandages. This better work or else the coven is down another witch and Hell is without a queen. Sabrina takes the dagger and presses the blade into her palm, drawing blood immediately. She holds her hand out over Nick's body and lets some of the blood pool onto his bare chest. If this wasn't so serious, I might have made a comment about how kinky this is. But again: Time and Place.
Nick starts to shake a little before the black sludge starts coming out of his nose and mouth. Slithering towards Sabrina's blood like some kind of demonic snake. It slowly absorbs the blood on Nick's chest before it stops moving. I let out the breath I've been holding but it's too soon. The sludge leaps off of his chest and latches itself onto Sabrina's hand. Ambrose quickly shoves her hand into the bowl of holy water and scrubs as hard as he can. After a few seconds she pulls back her hand, free of sludge. I quickly wrap it as the last of the sludge dies in the holy water.
"Did it work!?" Sabrina cries out. We all turn to look down at Nick. The color has returned to his face and he is no longer covered in sweat. Instead of the monster that was there a few minutes ago, he now looks like he's just taking a nap. Sleeping peacefully.
"We'll have to wait until he wakes up." Ambrose says with a sigh. He dumps the now dead sludge out of the bowl before handing it to Sabrina. "I know you need to bring the bowl to Hell, but I might have a use for the Dark Lord's residue. I might have one more trick up my sleeve." Ambrose says with a smirk.
"Fine. I'll be back." Sabrina says as she takes the bowl. "We'll be back." I correct as I go to follow her. Sabrina stops and looks at me before looking down at Nick. "No. I need you to stay here." She says. "Sabrina what are you talking about? It's the final task. I should be there with you." I try to reason with her. She just shakes her head.
"Brina-" "As your Queen I command you stay here." She barks. I go to take another step but my feet feel like they're glued to the floor. I look up at her and she just smiles sweetly. Dammit. Stupid handmaiden magics.
"I'll see you soon." She says in a sing song tone as she exits the room. "That bitch."
