I'm laying in the bed and I hear Avah call out to me.
"I'm in the bedroom come on in Avah," I said.
She walks in smiling at me. "Morning Levi!"
"Good morning Avah!" I smile.
"Are you ready to get started?" She asks.
"Ready as I'll ever be I guess. I did an exercise last night and hurt a lot going to the bathroom." I said.
"I'm glad you did get up Levi. It's important you move around." She said moving over to where I was.
I watched her in her bright aqua scrubs. Her hair was cute even though I never was into short hair girls but she's cute. She doesn't wear a lot of makeup either which I like.
"I'm going to massage your leg and stretch it ok?" She said.
"Sounds good. I guess I'll just lay here." I laugh feeling uncomfortable as hell.
I watched her hand as it moved further up my leg. What she was doing hurt but I knew it had to be done.
"So did you enjoy your cookies?" I asked her.
"I ate a couple on my way over to my parents they were delicious." She smiled.
"Your parents live around here?" I asked.
"Yeah on the other side of the beach." She said.
"Oh cool, that's where Remi's parents moved. They came from Alabama after she had Sierrah."
"Couldn't stay away from the grandkids." She laughed.
"Remi is a nice person I'll have to introduce you. If it wasn't for her Gray and I wouldn't even be talking to our dad." I said.
"What did she do?" She asked.
"We had this awkward as hell dinner where no one talked but Remi and Violet." I laugh.
"No one else said nothing?" She asked while massaging on up my leg.
"Not at first and well Gray and I didn't like his girlfriend and didn't want her taking our mom's place," I said.
"Your moms passed?" She asked.
"Yeah and we didn't want Diane taking her place which later Remi made us understand she wasn't trying to," I said.
"I'm sorry for your loss Levi." She said choking up.
I place my hand over hers before I knew what I was doing. "Hey, are you ok?" I ask.
"I'm sorry I'm not being professional Levi." She said wiping her eyes.
"Listen we are all human Avah and I'm a good listener." I smile at her.
She wiped a tear away and sniffed. "My mom is really sick."
"How sick? What do you mean?" I ask.
"She has breast cancer and the chemo is making her so sick. I stayed the night with her last night and I was telling her about your house and how you live on the beach. She said she would love to sit on your porch and feel the wind in the hair she has left." She choked out.
"Avah you can bring your mom over any time to sit on my porch. I really wouldn't mind." I said patting her hand.
"Levi you are my client and I couldn't ask that of you." She wiped her eyes. "I'm sorry I'm so emotional today I hate seeing her that way and there is nothing I can do for her."
"Believe me I understand more than you think," I said.
"How do you mean Levi?" She asked.
"I lost my mom 11 years ago to breast cancer," I said squeezing her hand.
"I'm sorry I didn't know." She said looking at me.
"It's ok I know you didn't but I'm serious bring her to sit on the porch or take her upstairs to the better view," I said.
"That's sweet of you Levi. I just might do that." She said wiping her eyes.
Before anything else could be said Remi walked in and saw my hand on Avah's.
"Hey, Levi! I brought you some enchiladas and cookies before I head back to cookie grounds." She smiled.
"Thanks, Remi. Umm, this is Avah. Avah this is my sister-in-law. She's who made the awesome cookies." I smile.
"Oh, those cookies were awesome. I need to get down to your place. Nice to meet you." Avah smiled.
"Nice meeting you as well! Well, I gotta get going. Cya this evening Levi." Remi said leaving.
"That smells really good." She said.
"Help me to the kitchen table and we can split it before you work me hard." I wink.
"I won't say no to that." She giggles and helps me stand.
Once sitting at the kitchen table she goes over to the fridge to get the food out and a couple cans of drinks and joins me at the table.
"Thanks for sharing Levi this is delicious. I didn't have time to eat this morning." She said.
"No problem she always gives me too much." I laugh.
"I can say I have never sat down and eaten with a client." She said.
"Well, I won't tell if you won't." I wink at her.
"I hope not but Melly wouldn't fire me." She laughs.
"She's your boss?" I ask.
"Yeah and best friend since college." She said taking another bite.
"Well, that's cool. I like working for myself making my own hours." I said.
"I'd say so. And rewarding seeing things you built." She smiled getting up cleaning off the table.
"Now I'm ready for a nap." I chuckle.
"Oh no you don't it's time to exercise mister." She laughs helping me up on my feet.
As her arms snaked around my waist I had this feeling that I wanted to wrap her in a bear hug but I didn't. She's bringing things alive in me that I never thought could happen not after what Courtney has done to me.
She worked me good for the next hour and then she helped me back to bed. Which I so desperately needed.
"Thanks again for sharing your food, Levi." She said.
"No problem! Listen how about we swap numbers so when you want to bring your mom over you can let me know." I said.
"Sure sounds good." She smiled handing me her phone. Then she packed up and I watched her ass as she walked out of my bedroom.
