A couple more months have gone by and it's finally time for us to tell Violet that Avah is pregnant. I sure hope she takes it well.
It's Saturday and Avah took Violet out to get a mani and pedi while I try to set up a little something special. We have her a shirt saying big sister and a new stuffy she had been wanting of a mermaid.
I can't walk upstairs but it's on the couch along with her favorite cupcake I had Remi make for her.
She comes running in with Avah behind her. "Let me see those nails munchkin!" I said.
"Daddy it was so much fun! They even gave me an orange sodie to drink." She said.
"I can see that because your hyper." I laugh.
Avah mouthed sorry but I just laughed. "So munchkin Avah and I need to talk to you about something."
"Ok daddy what?" She smiled.
"Come over to the couch and look what we got you then we will talk," I said.
She ran over to the couch and picked up her mermaid stuffy first. "Now look at your shirt," I said.
Avah sits down on the couch beside me smiling at Violet. Violet picks up the shirt it was pink with a mermaid on it. She read it then she looked at us and said it out loud.
"Promoted to Big Sister. OMG! Avah your having a baby?" She said running over to her.
"We are! How do you feel about that Violet?" She asked.
"I'm so happy." She said crying.
"Munchkin why are you crying?" I asked.
"Daddy I always wanted a baby brother or sister." She cried.
Avah pulled Violet to her and hugged her tight and kissed her face. "I'm so happy that you are happy. Look your aunt Remi made you a cupcake."
"Does she know? What about Uncle Gray?" She asked.
"They know now munchkin but that's it. You get to tell Grandma Judy and Grandpa Jay and also Grandpa Davis and Diane too." I said.
"Can I put on my shirt and we go to their house and surprise them?" Violet asked.
"If it's ok with Avah it's ok with me," I said.
"It's more than ok with me." Avah smiled.
We get ready and head to my dad's first. I'm not as excited as the other two because even though Remi fixed things between us it's just not the same.
Avah pulls up at the house and Dad and Diane are sitting on the porch. Avah helps me out of the truck and grabs my cane.
"Well, son look at you going. Avah has whipped you into shape." He laughed.
"Yeah, she's a miracle worker for sure. We just wanted to drop by a second on the way to her parent's place but we wanted to show you something." I said.
"Ok, what is it, Levi?" Diane said.
"Come on out Violet," Avah said.
Violet walks up and no one says anything and then Diane sees the shirt and about jumps off the porch. "You're having a baby?" She asks.
"That we are." Avah smiles.
"Well, congrats you two! I'm happy for you son." Davis said.
"I'm going to be a big sister grandpa." Violet smiles.
"That's awesome. You will be great too!" He laughs.
"Well, we wanted to share the news. Here is a copy of the sonogram." I said handing it to Diane.
"This is great. The more the merrier son." Davis said.
"Thanks, dad. Well, we gotta get going we just wanted to share our news." I said.
"Thanks for dropping by," Diane said and we headed for the truck. Once in the truck, Avah looks at me weird.
"Well, that was awkward." She laughs.
"I told you if Remi isn't here to do all the talking it's weird." I shrug.
"Diane doesn't treat me like a grandma should," Violet said.
"I don't think she knows how Violet. You love my mom and she's never been a grandma." Avah said.
"I know but she's lovable and she loves me." She said.
"She does love you munchkin. We are here let's go tell her. Just act normal." I said.
We walk into the house and Jay and Jody are on the couch. "Knock knock can we come in?" Avah asks.
"Oh, baby what a surprise come on in! Oh, there is my baby doll. Come here, Violet." Judy said opening her arms.
She hugs and kisses on Violet. We were just watching. "Grandma, you like my new shirt?" She giggles.
"I like that pretty color but what does it say? Stand up let me read it." Judy said.
"Promoted to big sister? Promoted to big hahaha omg are you pregnant Avah?" She said smacking her hands together.
"I am momma." Avah cries and walks over to hug her.
"Oh my I've always wanted you to have a baby and now I'll have two grandbabies." She said looking a Jay who is laughing.
He leans over and kisses Avahs head. "I'm happy for you guys. Really I am." He smiled.
"Here is a picture for you Judy to put on the fridge," I said.
"Oh my, it's beautiful whatever it is." She laughs.
"We call it sticky bun for now." Avah laughs.
"Sticky bun? what in the world." Judy laughs.
"I'm not showing much yet and the morning sickness is better with meds and we did get to hear the heartbeat," Avah said.
"I have a copy of the heartbeat I forgot. Do you guys want to hear?" I ask.
"Of course we do daddy!!" Violet giggles.
I hit play on my phone and all you can hear is thump thump thump. I look around at everyone and they have tears in their eyes including me. This is such a beautiful moment to be with family and people who accept me.
I'm going to marry this girl as soon as I can get out and get to a ring store.
