By the time I get Levi back to the porch the food is done and he wants to go down in the sand to eat at the table.
"Levi I don't know if this is a good idea," I said.
"Come on I can do it and you can help me if things go wrong. I want to eat with my family and yours." He said.
"Ok, you convinced me," I said holding onto him and leading him to the table. I help him sit down and I sit beside him.
"Yay your not making babies." Sierrah giggled.
"Sierrah Alice! That is enough young lady!" Remi said.
My dad chuckled and I looked over at him with my stink eye. Then Levi laughed and I pinched his leg.
"Ow, what was that for?" He smirked.
"For laughing now shhh." I smiled.
Everyone was looking at us and I had to look away at the water. Remi starts bringing plates around.
"Avah... Remi helped me to make your favorite. Macaroni salad." Mom smiled.
"Aww, mom it looks great. Thank you, Remi!" I smiled.
Everyone gathered around the table and Gray stood up. "I want to toast with sodie pop as Sierrah calls it. To new friends and family!"
As everyone eats I watched my mom she had a permanent smile on her face. I hadn't seen her this happy in a while. I pulled out my phone and took a few pictures.
"I'm not a selfie guy but let's take a pic together," Levi said.
I smiled at him. "I would like that." He put his arm around my neck and pulled me close to him.
Once dessert of cookies came out I grabbed a few and continued to watch my mom. My eyes were full of tears when I felt a warm hand on my leg.
I looked over at Levi and smiled as he squeezed. It felt nice at the moment to feel like I belonged to this family and that my mom was going to be ok.
I blinked my tears back and turned looking at the water but Levi never removed his hand from my leg.
I heard giggling and see Ruthie on mom's lap hugging her and my mom is smiling so big. I look over at Levi and he is watching as well.
He squeezes my leg again and I look over at him and smile. Then look at Remi and she's smiling at me.
I help her clean up while the kids surround my parents. Putting lids on containers and wrapping things up for my parents to take home.
"Thank you for letting my mom help Remi I really appreciate it," I said.
"Oh it's no big deal she wanted to and I can see it made her happy." She said.
"I haven't seen her this happy in a while. It's refreshing and those kids love her." I laugh.
"Ruthie and Wyatt are wild they are a handful for my parents." She laughs.
"Turns out talking to Levi my parents live near yours. Maybe we need to get them to meet and she can see those kids sometime." I said.
"Oh that would be great and my parents could use some friends." She smiled.
"Avah we are going to head home I am tired. Dad will drive me that way you can help Levi back inside." Mom smirks.
"Thanks, mom I'll call you later tonight ok? I love you and I'm glad you got to come out." I lean down and kiss her cheek.
She stands up and kisses my face. "By baby. Thank you for today." She said walking off with dad.
Remi finishes cleaning off the table. I look at Levi and he's staring at me. "Are you ready to go inside?" I ask him.
"No, but I know I need to." He chuckles.
"You want to try or you want my help on this sand?" I ask.
"You should probably help or we both may fall in the sand. Do you know how weird it is asking for help?" He said.
"I'm sure it is but for now it's ok to ask. I'm sure sitting there as long as you did has your hip hurting." I said.
"It does but I was enjoying family time and really just watching your mom how she lit up with the kids." He said.
"You saw that too huh? I asked Remi if she could introduce her parents to mine since they live close and maybe mom can see the kids more." I smile at him.
"Sounds like a good plan." He said trying to hide the pain on his face.
"Just take it slow one more little step and we are in the house, Levi."
He stays silent until we get into the house and he's now back to using his walker heading to the bedroom. "I need to use the bathroom before I get settled in bed." He said.
"Ok, I'll wait out here. Call if you need me." I smile walking over to his bed and fixing his covers and pillows.
I walk to the kitchen and get him a bottle of water and head back to the bedroom as he was coming out. "I got you water for your meds," I said.
"Great thanks." He walks over to the bed and finally sits down. I hand him the water and his pain meds.
I move the walker and massage up his leg almost to his hip. "You will get stronger and the pain will become less." I smile.
"I'm looking forward to that." He said looking up at me. I feel his hands move up my legs.
"Levi, what are you doing?" I ask.
He chuckles... "What I've wanted to do since I met you." He said as his one hand reaches up and pulls my face toward his and kisses me.
I pull back and look at him again before he pulls me in and kisses me again deepening the kiss. I'm lost at the moment I don't know what I'm doing.
I pull back stand up and look at him. My eyes are wide my heart is beating ninety miles a minute. "Levi I.."
"It's my fault I'm sorry Avah I thought we had a connection. Hell, maybe I'm wrong." He said.
"Don't be sorry I just wasn't expecting that. But let me help you in bed I need to go." I said rushing.
We didn't say anything else he just looked at me and watched me.
"Bye Levi I'll see you Monday," I said rushing out of his bedroom and house and pretty much ran to my car.
I hit my hands on the steering wheel. Avah your so stupid what the hell is wrong with you??
