The next morning Susie said we can go home. She goes over a few things with us as we strap Alex into his carrier.
Avah gets wheeled down to the truck in a wheelchair and I carry the baby and strap him in.
Avah gets in the back with Alex and we head home. "This is exciting Alex is going home." I smile.
"I know Violet is so excited because Alex is coming home and we need to get the Christmas tree up. So much to do Levi." She said.
"Don't worry about that. Gray and I can get the trees and you and Violet can pick out decorations." I said as we pulled into the driveway.
There was a big banner that said welcome home Alex! Looked like Violet did it.
I unbuckle Alex and carry him up to the door with Avah behind me when Violet and other family members jump out saying welcome home!
Violet runs over to Avah and hugs her. "I missed you, mommy."
"I missed you too. Ready to help me take care of Alex?" She asked her.
"What am I chopped liver munchkin?" I laugh.
"Sorry, daddy I missed you too." She giggled.
We went into the house and Remi had made so much food it was lined up on the counter.
"Oh my, Remi you shouldn't have that's so much food!" Avah said.
"You know how I like to cook and make things with Violet and Sierrah." She said.
I took Alex into his room and placed him in the crib and he went sound to sleep. Violet came into the room and smiled.
"Grab the baby monitor for me munchkin so we can keep a watch on him and let him sleep ok?" I said.
"Sure thing daddy! I can watch to make sure he doesn't wake up." She said.
"That sounds like a good job for you munchkin," I said following her into the kitchen to get a plate of food.
"Was he ok?" Avah asked.
"He was fine went right back to sleep and Violet's going to watch the baby monitor for us," I said.
"Thanks, sweet pea I appreciate that," Avah said to Violet.
"No problem mommy I'm happy to do it," Violet said.
I watched as Sierrah came over to get a look at the screen and Violet was explaining things to her.
We eat and are exhausted. I rub down my face and yawn.
"Guys listen you go upstairs and rest and I will watch the kids," Remi said.
"Are you sure?" Avah asked.
"Of course me and the girls can watch out for Alex. Go take a good long nap." Remi said.
Remi doesn't have to tell us twice. We check in on Alex and head upstairs to bed. We don't even change clothes we just fall into bed.
Avah looks over at me and giggles. "I'm so tired I'm silly."
"I'm tired to babe. Thank God that Remi said she would stay or we would have had to take turns staying up." I said.
"I love you, Levi." She yawned.
I wrapped my arms around her. "I love you too Avah very much."
I wake up a couple of hours later and use the bathroom and walk back into the bedroom and Avah is sitting on the side of the bed.
"Hey, babe ready to go feed Alex?" I smile.
"I am I feel so refreshed. I don't know how we are ever going to repay Remi." She said.
When we got downstairs Violet was sitting on the couch holding Alex singing twinkle twinkle little star.
"Wow, you are being a big help, Sweet Pea," Avah said.
"I love my baby brother and he looks so much like daddy it's not funny." Violet giggles.
"He does don't he? I need to feed him if you don't mind giving him up." Avah winked at Violet.
"It's fine mommy he was making my arm tired," Violet said before walking over to the counter and asked for a cookie.
"Here Violet! Grab you a cookie and then I think Uncle Gray wants you out in the sand." Remi said.
I went to Alex's room and emptied out the diaper bag and just started cleaning up around the house while Avah was breastfeeding the baby in his room.
I walk over and smile and lean down kiss her head. "I love you both so much."
"We love you too Levi. It feels so great to be home and have Alex here." She said picking him up to burp him.
"Violet went out to make sandcastles with Gray and the kids," I said.
"I was wondering where she went. She told me her arm got tired holding Alex and that he looked so much like you that it wasn't funny." Avah laughed.
"That stinker! Let me take him so you can get your shower and then I'll get one after." I said.
She handed me Alex and kissed me and headed upstairs. I sit down in the rocker with him and just looked at him. He was yawning so I rocked him back to sleep before putting him in his bed.
When I walked back into the kitchen Avah was putting some of the food away. I walked up behind her and kissed her neck.
"You smell so good, babe," I said.
"That's what a shower can do for you Levi." She giggled.
"Alright, I get it I stink! I'm gonna go grab my shower while things are calm." I said heading upstairs.
In the shower, my mind is going fast. I need to get back to work soon but I want to spend time with Avah and Alex at home.
Larry really has taken care of my business while I have been out. I see a Christmas bonus in his future. Shit, I need to talk to Gray about trees.
Christmas is coming and it will be fun this year with a wife and new baby. I smile to myself as I look in the mirror. Alex is going to be a handful when he gets older.
