While Avah was feeding Alex Violet and I went and laid out all the decorations that Remi and Melly picked out.
Everyone left after they cleaned up so we could do our first Christmas tree alone as a family of four.
When Avah walks out she looks around... "Where did everyone go?"
"They wanted to give us space to do the tree ourselves as a family of four," I said.
"Well, that was nice of them and to clean up." She said looking around.
"Well since Alex is still asleep I can work on the lights for the tree and you and munchkin can decorate," I said.
"Sounds good." She said sitting down on the couch picking out decorations with Violet.
After I hang the lights and make sure they work I watch the girls hang decorations. Alex begins to cry so I go get him and bring him into the living room and rock him.
"Daddy look how pretty the tree is," Violet said.
"I see that! Aunt Remi picked out some pretty decorations didn't she?" I said.
"Uh-huh and look one that says baby's first Christmas!" She rushes over to show me.
"Maybe Alex should hang it on the tree what do you think I?" I said.
"He can't hold that daddy." She giggles.
"Well, I'm going to help him," I said taking the ornament from Violet and walk over to the tree.
I use his little hand in mine while I hang it on the tree. I look over at Avah and she has tears in her eyes. I lean in to kiss her and smile.
"Ewww you guys really?" Violet giggles.
I hand over Alex to Avah and tell them to go sit down while I plug in the tree. Once I plug it in I walk over to get a look at our handiwork.
"Oh, it looks so good Daddy. Now we just need presents." Violet giggles.
"Sweet pea I need you to write a list so we can give to Santa," Avah said.
"Really? mommy, I know that Santa isn't real but don't tell Sierrah because she still believes." Violet said.
"When did you become so smart munchkin?" I ask her.
"I don't want to spoil it for her or the little kids." She shrugged.
"Well, I still want a list so Santa can buy you stuff," Avah said pointing over at me.
"Ho ho ho! I'm Santa." I laugh and Violet giggles.
"Well it's been a long day and I think it's time for a bath and bed," Avah said to Violet.
"Ok fine but can I kiss my brother first?" She asked.
"Of course you can," Avah said turning him asking so she could kiss his forehead.
"Mommy will you braid my hair please?" Violet asked.
"Yeah go on up and I'll give Alex to daddy and I'll be right there." She said.
She handed me Alex and smiled. "You can probably change him and lay him down if you want." She said.
I turn him around so his feet are against my belly and I stare at his face. He opens his little eyes a little bit trying to stare at me.
I can't help but pick him up and kiss his little face before I take him into his room and diaper him and lay him down in his crib.
I go back to the couch and turn on a football game until Avah comes back down. I'm not sure when I dozed off to sleep but Avah woke me up with a soft kiss on my lips.
"Come on sleepy head let's go to bed. We can take Alex upstairs and put him in the bassinet." She said.
Since we have been sleeping upstairs she doesn't feel comfortable leaving him downstairs so we bring him to our room for now.
I get him comfy and then I go take a shower before joining Avah in bed. Once I'm out I check in on him again before I get in bed next to a sleeping Avah.
I wrap my arm around her and doze off to sleep when Alex wakes up. I get out of bed and pick him up.
Avah turns over to get up. "Babe stay in bed. Do you have any milk pumped in the fridge?" I ask her.
"Yeah, there is one in the fridge thanks Levi I'm so tired." She said turning over and going back to sleep.
I walk downstairs with Alex bouncing him while he whimpers. I grab the milk out of the fridge and heat it up and go into his room to rock him back to sleep.
After he drinks it all I burp him and rock him a little while until he falls asleep. I walk back upstairs and put him in his bassinet and walk back over and crawl in bed.
Avah rolls over and snuggles up to my chest. I kiss her forehead and look over at the bassinet and see no movement so I know he's back to sleep.
The next morning when I wake up I'm in bed alone and I don't see Alex in the bassinet. I get up and brush my teeth and take a piss and head downstairs.
I find Violet at the table eating cereal and Avah bouncing Alex in the kitchen while she tries to take bites of cereal too.
"Morning guys!" I said kissing all of them on the head.
"Morning daddy! Aunt Remi is taking me to school today." Violet said.
"Yeah, uncle Gray has somewhere to be," I said.
After Violet left I told Avah I was going with Gray to pick out that mother's ring. Which wasn't fully a lie. Gray tricked Avah into saying which one was her favorite because I'm getting her one for Christmas too.
I kiss Avah on the lips and head out the door to meet up with Gray. We have some presents to buy.
He meets me by the truck and we head toward the jewelry store.
