The next morning I'm up and ready to go by 9 am. I decided to surprise mom and take her to Levi's.
I pull into the driveway and smile when I see my dad tinkering in his old car. "Morning Avah I'm surprised to see you." He said.
"Hey, dad! I come to surprise mom and if I can get her out of the house I have a special place to take her." I smile.
"Well, that sounds like fun. She was up smiling this morning so I would say she's feeling ok. Last I saw her she was in the kitchen." He said.
"Thanks, dad! I hope I can convince her to go." I said walking up the sidewalk to the house.
"Mom where are you?" I call out.
"Avah is that you?" She said.
"Who else calls you mom?" I laugh.
I find her in the kitchen sitting with some coffee. "Hi, baby! It's good to see you." She said.
I kiss her cheek before sitting down. "So I dropped by for a reason. Are you up to go out with me?" I ask.
"I think so I feel pretty good today." She smiled.
"Good I have somewhere to take you. After you get dressed we will get on the road. It's not far from here." I said.
"Ok let me go get some clothes on I'll be right back." She said.
I pulled out my phone to text Levi.
📱Good morning Levi! I'm taking you up on that offer. I'm bringing my mom over to your porch. She's feeling good this morning.
📱Oh, that's great Avah! Sounds good I'm glad your brining her. Let me know when you get here I would like to meet her.
📱Sure thing! See you in a little bit.
Mom walks back down and says she's ready. I help her outside and my dad is smiling. He walks over and kisses her cheek. "Have fun and you two don't get into any trouble."
"Oh dear, we will try not to." Mom laughs.
I help her into the car and then I get in myself and I'm excited but nervous all at the same time.
"So where are we going Avah?" Mom asked.
"You remember yesterday you said you wished you could sit on a porch on the beach and let the wind go through your hair?" I asked.
"Of course I remember that." She smiled.
"Well, my client Levi said you could come sit on his porch any time you wanted and I took him up on that offer." I smile.
She's grinning from ear to ear. "Oh my, that's so nice of him. I hope we don't bother him."
"I texted him and he said come on he would love to meet you." I smiled.
"Well, I can't wait to meet Levi. What's his last name Avah?" She asked.
"Reece he owns a construction company and got hurt in a building he was working on and broke his hip. That's how we met." I said.
"Oh, I've heard of that company. I've seen signs with the name on it." She said.
We pull up at the edge of the sand that's near his house and park. "Well here is his house," I said.
"Oh my, it's breathtaking!" She said.
I grab my phone to text Levi. "Let me tell him that we are here."
📱Levi, we are here. Just wanted to let you know.
📱Ok, see you in a few.
I get up put my phone and keys in my pocket and walk around to help mom out of the car. "Let's walk down this little path to his porch ok?" I said.
"Whatever you say, sweetie." She said holding my arm.
When we get to the front porch there are four rocking chairs that I don't remember seeing yesterday. Hmm, that's weird.
I help mom up on the porch and into a chair. She's smiling looking out at the water.
"I'll be right back I'm going to see if Levi needs help getting up," I said.
I knocked on the door and then walked on in. "Levi?" I called out.
"Coming!" He said
I walked up the hall and found him standing using his walked moving slowly toward me.
"Good morning!" I smiled.
"Morning Avah. Your mom on the porch?" He asked.
"She is sitting in a rocker I don't recall seeing yesterday." I laugh.
"Oh yeah, I had Gray pick some up. There are two on the second floor as well you know in case she wants to go up." He shrugged.
"That was nice of you Levi." I smiled.
"It's no big deal. I need to come out here more often and enjoy the view." He said walking closer to me.
"Your walking is great today. I can tell you are pushing through the pain." I said.
"I am now come on I have a mom to meet." He smirks.
I help him out the door and he smiled at my mom. "It's nice to meet you Mrs. Jaxs."
"It's nice to meet you as well! Thank you for letting me enjoy your view." She smiled.
"It's my pleasure. If you feel up to it later you can go up to the second floor the view is much more amazing there." He smiled.
I sit down in the rocker next to Levi and listen to him and mom chat back and forth.
Violet and Gray walk up to the porch. My mom smiles big. "Who is this cutie?"
"That's Violet, my baby," Levi said.
"Daddy! I'm ten! I'm not a baby anymore." She huffs.
I can't help but giggle. Violet looks at me and smiles. "Hi Avah!" she walks over and hugs me.
"Hi, Violet! I want you to meet my mom." I smile at her.
"Hi, Avah's mom! Nice to meet you." Violet giggles.
"You are such a pretty girl. My name is Jody." Mom said.
"Mom this is Gray. Levi's brother." I said.
"I can tell you look alike." Mom said.
"Sorry to interrupt but we come to get some flip flops. I'm taking the kids down to the beach." Gray said.
"It's fine you know where they are Violet," Levi said.
I look over at him. "Maybe we should go?"
"No please stay I'm enjoying the company." He winked.
There he goes with that wink again unless something is wrong with his eye. I laugh to myself.
