We all finally arrived at Hogwarts after the boat ride across the water to get here. When we entered the door, we saw the huge school. Students gasped in shock and amazement, as did I.

I walked up the steps with Harry and Ronald, standing in the middle of the two, talking about what we think this school year has to come. When we arrived at the top of the staircase, I noticed a blonde boy pushing his way through the group of students to come and approach us.

"So it's true then, Harry Potter is at Hogwarts?" Draco Malfoy says to Harry. When he noticed me standing next to him, he smiled. "Looks like you've already befriended this one-" Draco says to Harry, gesturing at me making everyone's eyes look at me. "-why not befriend more of the 'good kind'." He says with a cocky smirk on his face. "This is Crabbe, and Goyle. And I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy."

Draco stuck out his hand for Harry to shake, while Ronald let a laugh escape his mouth at the mention of his name, which made me smile.

"Think my names funny, do you? Am I willing to ask yours?" Draco sneered. "Red hair, and a hand me down robe? You must be a Weasley."

Ronald made a sad and embarrassed expression on his face, so I leaned over to him and whispered something in his ear.

"It's okay, he's just a prat. Maybe he'll get better, though." I tell Ronald. He smiles at me hopefully, and I smile back. Draco rolls his eyes.

"Don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort." Draco says to Harry, who just gave him an annoyed look.

"I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself." Harry responds, looking proudly at Ronald and I, who just smiled back at him.

Draco, offended, moved his hand away, redness speeding to his cheeks. Harry walked closer to us and smiled, and then an old lady came to the front of the first years.

This lady was Professor McGonagall. She told all of us that we will be sorted into our houses and started to explain them all. Once she was finally done talking, the doors to the Great Hall flew open and all the first years walked inside.

The room was spectacular; the ceiling was spelled to look like the night sky, while candle flew on top of it, all lit up beautifully. The four tables holding the four different houses were filled with students eating food, laughing, joking, and talking. The table at the front of the room held all of the different teachers, one of whom I already knew: Professor Snape. Father and Snape were friends in their youth, and they are to this day. Although, they mostly discuss business.

Then I saw the sorting hat. It was at the front of the room, sitting on top of a stool. The first years stopped in front of it, all of us studying the room.

"Wow, this is amazing!" Ronald says and I nod.

"It is, isn't it?" I say to him and he smiles.

McGonagall started calling up students to be sorted into their houses, going down the list she held in her hands. She called a bunch of unfamiliar names before she finally called one I knew.

"Greengrass, Daphne."

Daphne smiled a confident smile and walked up to the stool. McGonagall lifted the hat and set it on her head. It took at least thirty seconds before it could sort her.

"SLYTHERIN!"

The Slytherin table cheered as she made her way over to it. Then, the next name was called.

"Zabini, Blaise."

Blaise walked up to the front of the room and sat on the stool. He was there for a few seconds when the hat yelled out his house.

"SLYTHERIN!"

Again, the Slytherin table cheered for their newest addition.

"Malfoy, Draco."

My attention was set to the front of the room when I heard his name. He walked up to the front and sat on the stool. McGonagall barely set the hat on his head before it sorted him.

"SLYTHERIN!"

The Slytherin table cheered yet again, and the other tables continued to clap quietly.

"Weasley, Ronald."

He gave Harry and I a nervous look before walking up to the front of the room and sitting on the stool.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

It was the Gryffindor tables turn to cheer now, especially Ronald's siblings that were at the school. I noticed Fred and George, who I had met earlier, were cheering extra loud as Ronald went over at sat by them.

"Granger, Hermione."

She walked her way up to the front of the room and sat on the stool. It took a long time for the sorting hat to finally sort her.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

She beamed a large smile and Harry looked at me.

"We better both get Gryffindor."

"Potter, Harry."

The tables went silent, trying to see which house Harry Potter would be sorted into. The sorting hat took a long time before finally deciding on which house to put him in.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

The Gryffindor table cheered loudly than any other table cheered. They must've been very proud to have Harry Potter sorted into Gryffindor.

"Knight, Lila."

Again, the tables went silent as everyone recognized my name. I felt the eyes all staring at me from the four tables, the pressure of everyone watching me. They were all anxious to see which house I'd be sorted into, and as was I. I might've already known from Mother, but I wanted to know if she was right. To be honest, I had mixed feelings. I sat on the stool, the hat set on top of my head. The students and teachers were all dead silent, the only noise being the sorting hat.

"Ah, a Knight. You were all very hard to sort, yes yes. Now we have Hufflepuff, where I believe you wouldn't do so good, even with your loyalty. Then there's Ravenclaw, which you would do fine in yes, yes, with your smarts and your wits. Although, it's not quite what I'm looking for.

"Then there's Gryffindor, which would do you well. Bravery you certainly have in you, yes. Chivalry too, I presume. That's why I sort you in... SLYTHERIN!"

The Slytherin's all cheered and yelled excitedly, and McGonagall took the hat off my head as I walked over to the Slytherin table. The Gryffindor's all looked very disappointed, especially Harry and Ronald.

I took a seat next to Daphne, the Slytherin's all staring at me happily and proud. It irked me that they took pride in this, that some of them were bragging the Gryffindor's that they got me as if I was an object. I didn't say anything though, as they all patted my back like it was a prize to be in Slytherin.

"Congrats, Lila." Daphne said to me, and I faked a smile.

"Thanks, Daphne." I mumbled to her, while the Slytherin's all started to try and talk to me as the other first years got sorted.

"Hey Knight, proud to be in Slytherin?" I recognized the high pitched boy's voice, Draco Malfoy. He was smirking, proud to be in the same house as me. I looked over at him and just rolled my eyes, ignoring his presence as I started to grab food. I was avoiding everyone I could besides Daphne.

"Why do you look disappointed to be in Slytherin?" Daphne asked me with a face full of food. I tried to hold in my laughter, which was very hard.

"Well, I met some people that are in Gryffindor and I'm worried they might not want to be my friends." I said, and Daphne nodded.

"Yeah, well, you still have Blaise and I, right?" She asks me and I smile.

"Right."
