After Professor Moody had pulled Harry and I away, we soon found out he had been the person Voldemort was talking about at Hogwarts, his loyal servant.
It was Barty Crouch Jr.; Mr. Crouch had snuck him out of Azkaban, since his wife was dying and her wish was for him to be free. They used Polyjuice Potion to transform themselves into one another and sneak his son out of Azkaban, keeping him a secret all these years.
He came to Hogwarts and disguised himself as Mad-Eye Moody which, turns out, was hidden in a trunk for ten months, stunned.
Crouch Jr. had put our names in the Goblet of Fire, gave Hagrid the tip on the dragons, told Cedric about the egg, stunned Fleur in the maze, used the Imperius Curse on Krum so he would get rid of Cedric, turned the Triwizard Cup into a Portkey, trying to ensure we would encounter Voldemort.
We then had went to Dumbledore's office, where Sirius and Mother were waiting, and he told us to tell him everything that had happened in the maze.
As Harry told him the story I stayed quiet, mostly until they told me to say what had happened while Harry was fighting Voldemort.
And when I told Mother what James Potter had told me to say, she broke out into tears, excusing herself so she could mourn in private.
We had gone to the Hospital Wing where Mrs. Weasley, Ronald, Hermione, and Bill had all been waiting for us, comforting us as Mother came back and insisted she was okay.
Cornelius Fudge then came to talk to us about the maze, and when Dumbledore told him Voldemort had returned, he refused to believe it. He said that Dumbledore shouldn't believe Harry and I, which I hadn't even said anything, when we're Parselmouths and have weird symptoms, like Harry's scar hurting or my hair glowing, and stormed out of the room furiously, after McGonagall yelled at him for being stupid.
Then Barty Crouch Jr. was kissed by the Dementors, being useless for trial, thanks to Cornelius Fudge.
And the conversation with Mr. and Mrs. Diggory was the worst; Harry and I went to talk to them, and they didn't blame us for Cedric's death, but I could barely speak, feeling too sorry for them.
Then here we were today, sitting in the Great Hall at each of our tables, black banners hanging from the ceiling instead of the house colors from the one that won the House Cup.
I sat next to Daphne, who was clutching onto my hand tightly, across from Blaise and Malfoy, who had recently broken up with Pansy and said she was disgusting, and Crabbe and Goyle, much to Blaise, Daphne, and I's dismay.
"The end of another year." Dumbledore announces, standing up from his seat and in front of the podium, looking around at us all. His eyes fell upon the Hufflepuff table, who were the saddest and quietest in the Great Hall.
"There is much that I would like to say to you all tonight, but I must first acknowledge the loss of a very fine person, who should be sitting here," he gestured towards the Hufflepuff table, "enjoying our feast with us. I would like you all, please, to stand, and raise your glasses, to Cedric Diggory."
Everyone in the Great Hall stood up and grabbed their cups.
"Cedric Diggory."
Everyone sat back down and set their drinks back on the table. I looked down and avoided any eyes, flashes of Cedric dying coming back as I squint my eyes shut and try to rid them of my mind.
"Cedric was a person who exemplified many of the qualities that distinguish Hufflepuff House." Dumbledore continues. "He was a good and loyal friend, a hard worker, he valued fair play. His death has affected you all, whether you knew him well or not. I think that you have the right, therefore, to know exactly how it came about."
