After a week, I was finally beginning to feel warmer again, after the attack. I was no longer cold and lonely all the time and started to spend more time with my friends and not stay around in the common room all day. And, when I did, I would spend the day with Bletchley, Daphne and Blaise, and sometimes even Malfoy.
So things were getting better.
Class was good as well. I've been getting perfect marks, as always, but more homework has been piling on. More essays in Potions, more chapters to read in Charms, more notes to take in Transfiguration, and more quizzes in History of Magic. It's tiring, I'll admit.
But I guess that's partly on me. I've found sleep useless and just a time for my nightmares to take over, so instead I've been staying up all night in the common room with Elara perched on my shoulder and a book in my hand, reading while the fire crackles until the sun would rise and go back in the girls' dormitory to sleep for an hour before waking up and going to school.
In this time, I've read all of the chapters I needed to read for classes and a little more, finished Hamlet, and got halfway through my book on Wizard's Chess. The book is huge, at least 400 pages. But, to be honest, it gives really good tips. Tips on all of the different types of moves your opponent could make and how to defend yourself against them, how to know if you're doomed or not, how to identify all of the pieces and everything about them, and all of the different types of moves you can make.

After minutes of Daphne shaking me awake, I finally woke up and got out of bed to get ready. I walk over to my dresser and put on my Slytherin uniform and robe. I walk over to my vanity and put on light makeup, tying my hair into a high ponytail and leaving the two strands of white hair down in front of my face. I grab my bag and walk to the Great Hall with Daphne, sitting down across from Malfoy and Blaise as we start putting food for ourselves and eating in silence, which I finally decide to break.
"Did you guys know today is a Muggle, American Holiday called Thanksgiving?" I ask them, taking a sip of Pumpkin Juice after I say it. They stare at me like I'm not from this planet, sort of in disgust, at what I just said.
"How would we know that?" Blaise asks, his mouth completely full of pancakes as he speaks. "Yeah, not only are we not Muggles, but we aren't American. So, even if we were Muggles, we still wouldn't celebrate it." Malfoy says, his voice full of disgust and annoyance.
"Stop, you guys. I think it's interesting. Why do they celebrate- erm, Thankslinning?" Daphne asks me, obviously not interested but trying to make me feel better.
"Thanksgiving." I correct. "They celebrate it because it was when the Pilgrims went to America and shared a feast with the Native Americans, but people say that's false. But, mostly, they celebrate it to spread thanks to the people they love or are thankful for. They have a full feast of like turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and some other foods." I explain.
"Oh! Well then, we should all say what we are thankful for!" Daphne exclaims excitedly, a grin spreading from ear to ear on her face. Blaise and Malfoy stare at her just like how they did when I told them about the holiday, when Malfoy decides to speak.
"I will not. Muggles celebrate it, making it disgusting and classifying me as a Blood-traitor, and Americans celebrate it, and I will not celebrate anything those filthy, corrupt, bloody Americans celebrate." Malfoy states, glaring harshly at Daphne making her roll her eyes.
"You will celebrate, or else Lila will hex you. We all know she's dying to, given the look she's been giving you since you mentioned the words Blood-traitor. And also, you know that she is powerful enough to hex you all the way over to America." Daphne says to him, making him groan in response and rest his head on his hand as Blaise claps.
