Anthony
It was hard keeping this proposal plan from Jazzmyn, especially with us spending so much time together. When she works it's isn't a 9-5 thing. It's situational and for now, at least, it was pretty chill. With the weather getting cooler not as many people are out causing riots and the hurricanes are gone for the time being. There's some wildfires that Jazz helped out with in Illinois which I thought was odd, but she would be gone for a day then be back and have the rest of the week off.
So keeping my mouth shut has been hard. I'm so excited to spend the rest of my life with her I don't know how much longer I can keep it in. But I wanted to make sure I can have her family and mine in town for the occasion and that she won't know about it. But she's a smart girl, and girls find out everything. Trust me, I know.
So I try and keep things as low key as possible as I work on getting our families in the city. I decide to take her to a pumpkin patch because that's all she's asked me about doing since baseball ended. There was a lot of good ones around here so I figured I might was well waste some time doing something fun with Jazz to keep her off my trail.
Once we get there we take a million pictures of the pumpkins, of us, of us with the pumpkins. I've never seen someone in her 30's so excited about a pumpkin patch. But I often times forget she hasn't had these simple pleasures in so long. Being in Chicago in the fall can be exciting because everything she was missing out on over seas was right here. And she was kind enough to share these experiences with me, and for that I was so thankful.
"Oh look! A little gazebo" she cheers as she grabs my hand. She easily pulls me behind her as we skip to the white gazebo surrounded by pumpkins. They had speakers playing music for couples to take pictures in and have a good time
We get into the little structure and the music gets louder. There wasn't anyone over here because it was lunch time which was pretty nice. It was just her and I and some pumpkins.
"Let's dance" she demands as she wraps her arms around my neck. I pull her close as I just smile real big.
"We haven't danced in forever" I notice.
"It's been too long" she agrees.
"But I think it's worth the wait" I smile.
"Just let me set the mood right
Let me make you feel alright
I'm gonna set the mood right
And you'll say my name tonight
If I set the mood right
Promise girl you'll feel alright
If you let me set the mood right
I'll make you feel so good tonight
If it feels good to you then it'll feel good to me
Let me set the mood right
Listen
Woke up this morning
Heard the TV sayin' something
'Bout disaster in the world, and
It made me wonder where I'm going
There's so much darkness in the world
But I see beauty left in you, girl
And what you give me lets me know
That I'll be alright
Because if your love was all I had
In this life
Well, that would be enough
Until the end of time
So rest your weary heart
And relax your mind
'Cause I'm gonna love you girl
Until the end of time."
"What do you know about this song" I challenge.
"I was fighting in a war not stuck under a rock. I know Justin Timberlake and I know good songs when I hear them" she assured me.
"This isn't even one of his big songs" I try.
"Big enough to play in a pumpkin patch apparently" she giggled.
"Alright, you got me there" I nod. "But still. When did you first hear this song" I question.
"You've got me singing
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
Everybody sing
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
Everybody singing
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
Now if you're ever wondering
About the way I'm feeling
Well, baby girl, there ain't no question
Just to be around you is a blessing
Sick and tired of trying to save the world
I just want to spend my time with you, girl
And what you're give me lets me know
That we'll be alright
Because if your love was all I had
In this life
Well, that would be enough
Until the end of time
So rest your weary heart
And relax your mind
'Cause I'm gonna love you girl
Until the end of time."
"It was actually when I was home in the states for a visit. I heard it when I was watching over my niece Jenna. She was sick but I wasn't home for long so she wanted to hang out with me even though she didn't feel well. I sat by her bed all day and it made me smile. She had this album so we played it on repeat. This is my favorite song from it" she explains.
"That's beautiful" I smile. "I see this song as our first dance. You in your dress and me in my suit surrounded by the people we love with all our hearts. Justin playing in the background trying his best to put our love in a catchy song like this" I sigh.
"That would be really sweet" she smiles up at me.
"You've got me singing
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
Everybody sing
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
Everybody singing
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
This one's for the lovers
If you're out there, let me hear you say
Yeah, yeah, yeah
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
This one's for the lovers
If you're out there, let me hear you say
Yeah, yeah
(Yeah, yeah)
This one's for the lovers
If you're out there, let me hear you say
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
This one's for the lovers
If you're out there, let me hear you say
Yeah, yeah
(Yeah, yeah)
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa
'Cause if your love was all I had
In this life
That would be enough
Until the end of time."
I lean over and place a soft kiss to her lips. She pulls me in as tight as she can and I happily kiss her back. I hold her body against mine until the end of time.
